Its a beauty, the reason I ask is one the 4"guns in the op is a transitional model, the frame is stamped 6291 its pinned but not recessed, and at one time their was a member here that posted one similar to it, just thought it was you, has I'd like to compare serial numbers, the no dash 4" guns are hard to find, enjoy yours, its a gem

This fills me with envy!!!!

Yeah me to, been meaning to ask about that one, this thread has so many guns that I'm into, I just can't keep up, but I do want to hear all about this horse pistol

It's a PC 629 "Extreme" 12". It's got Bill Wilson sights, I swapped out the original blued sling swivels for the stainless, swapped out a nylon sling for the leather sling, and had Hogue rework a coco bolo stock so I could use the swivels with it. I think that the purpose of the gun was to just get the most out of the .44 mag cartridge as the sights are pretty coarse and blocky, at long ranges the front sight covers quite a bit of the target. For long range shooting I prefer my 10 5/8" 29-3, the sight are a lot finer.
This is a pretty cool gun though, Tackleberry comments are not unusual at the range!

Of all the guns in this thread, this is the one I wouldn't mind trying, I'd like to sit at the bench with all my favorite loads and run them over my chronograph, when I got my first 10" gun, the velocity gains over the 8" guns blew me away,
for years I've been meaning to get a TC 14" just for recording the data. Have you ever run that gun through the traps? I would be very interested in seeing your speed data, if you have.
That horse pistol is one bad hombre, thanks for the additional photos and info

I've been shooting and reloading for almost 40 years and the one thing that I've never invested in is a chronograph! So unfortunately I don't have any concrete info on performance.

Good "hobby" chronographs can be bought for $100 - you really ought to get one even if you don't handload. How short of their advertised muzzle velocity those hyper-velocity magnum loads fall in a short-barreled handgun will really open your eyes to how much muzzle blast and flash, not to mention recoil, you are tolerating for such a small return over standard-velocity ammo.

If you do handload, they can tell you a wealth of information. Let's say you try a recipe that doesn't group well but has a small shot-to-shot velocity deviation. That suggests the load has accuracy potential but perhaps you weren't holding steady that day, wind got to your bullets or your gun might prefer a different brand of bullet of that same weight. If it groups poorly with a high deviation number, the load isn't worth working with any longer, thus saving you time and component expense. If you find that ALL of your handloads exhibit high deviation numbers, your powder charging procedure may need to be improved and you likely won't find an accurate recipe until you do.

I use a ProChrono available at MidwayUSA. In fact, it is on sale this month - Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital Chronograph. That chronograph and an inexpensive camera tripod are all you need.

I've tried more expensive ones - Pact and CED, to name two - that didn't work as well under all light conditions, something that chronographs are sensitive to.

This is my 629-2 that was given to me by an old friend about a year or so ago. I live up in the mountains of southern New Mexico and this pistol is my constant companion when I am out walking in the woods around my place.

The grips are Hogue checkered Bantam's in Pau Ferro:

Here is an earlier pic with the original Pachmayr grips and my pancake holster from El Paso Saddlery:
