All those executive orders were signed, and a young teen or twenty man has been shot multiple times in a Sacramento park in the middle of the day. Apparently the drug gangs, that do most of the crime and killing, did not get the memo.
It would be very unusual if one, two, or three young people were not killed by other gangs in most of this countries biggest cities today, and again tomorrow, and every day. But the administration made no mention of drug gangs. Maybe he does not want to scare people into buying guns?

Murders, Shootings And Gun Sales Per Day: An Average Day In United States
(9 paragraphs down)
While it's worth noting that the vast majority of gun owners are law abiding, the cold, hard numbers about deaths and injuries due to guns seem equally noteworthy. Guns were used in 11,422 homicides and 19,392 suicides in 2010, according to the CDC, and were used either intentionally or accidentally to wound 59,208 people in 2011.

yes,and there were thousands of knife,bicycle,car,tool,sports.etc. accidents, but we don't curtail or take them away from people.

And I know it's been said multiple times, and I'm sure many of you share the same opinion, but jeez look at how many more suicides there are than homicides with guns. Just goes to show that the facts prove the mental health issue is much larger than the gun issue. But they won't look at their own facts from a non-biased outlook. I know, that's how they justify it, just reminds me of a saying...

"The wise man doubts often, and his views are changeable. The fool is constant in his opinions, and doubts nothing, because he knows everything, except his own ignorance" (Pharaoh Akhenaton, c.1250BCE)

Take a look at Mauli right now...innocent hostages being taken because they lack the ability and tools to defend themselves. They are at the mercy of terrorists and many will die. That could be us...picture a financial melt down...no SS checks...no military...and chaoes over food and shelter looting....I hope it never happens here....but at the rate we are going....everything is on the table.

Gun suicide contributing factors?

One article says that drugs used to quit smoking may increase suicide risk. Another article says that quitting smoking itself is a risk.

(I assume the waiting period for buying a gun in California does no good if the person lives near the Golden Gate Bridge?)

Ahrrrrrrr...maybe if we take the bridge down, this will save 30 lives a year????? Makes sence to some politicions.

The first time I bought a handgun in California was in the early 1960’s, and there was a 10 day waiting period. When I ask about the waiting period, I was told it was an anti-suicide law.
Naturally I am aware of the numbers of suicides when driving cars, and would wonder why no waiting period for buying a car.
In the below article it mentions teenage homicide and suicide - without mentioning that the teenagers were in Drug Gangs.
My point is that they use statistics inappropriately when passing laws. In my opinion drug gang numbers are extremely important.

Waiting Period Laws for Gun Permits
Publication Date: 12/07/2009

Waiting Period Laws for Gun Permits | Public Health Law Research
(first paragraph)
Firearms are the second leading cause of injury and deaths in the United States accounting for 30,896 deaths and 71,417 injuries in 2006. Over 80 percent of teen homicides and almost half of teen suicides in involved a gun in 2005.

The politicians and the media are smart enough to know they will never disarm the criminals. That isn't the purpose of gun laws. They want to disarm the population at large. Once the general population is disarmed, the government will have complete control to do whatever it wants. without treat of an armed revolution. The criminals themselves are a minor irritation for the government.

Still Confused about the cold war and gangs

Suicides are a mental (and emotional, and chemical) health issue.
Homicides in this country are a drug gang issue, being disguised as a gun issue.
Years ago I gave a lot of thought as to why we still have the Italian Mafia after all these years. My conclusion some years ago was that they are not communists or socialists. They are capitalists. (Remember the Cold War against communist Russia and Communist China trying to absorb the post WWII countries with power vacuums and monetary collapse -- using communism as a conquest tool). (Hmm... as we export factories and import immigrants we get more poor and more socialistic?)

(With this last election I have lost track and remain confused. Except I remember (1960s) when the media and college professors were telling us to only have 2.6 children so "we" would not overpopulate the world)

(Now we seem to be keeping our borders wide open and other cultures want to keep the same laws as where they left -- and they are now the swing vote in our elections)

These drug gangs and thugs obviously don't read the "no guns" signs....
