What is the most accurate pistol you have ever shot?

I shot a fair amount of competition but my experience is with a fairly small range of pistols. I've never shot a free pistol, for instance, and one of those is probably the most accurate out there. In my experience, the S&W Model 41 and High Standard Supermatic were the most accurate. The Ruger Mark I Target too (I havern't shot the later models). For centerfire, the National Match 45s turned out by the US Army for competition were the most accurate, although not quite as accurate as a good 22.

For the longest time my Colt Officers Model Match in .22 was my laser shooter. I took pride in having the smallest target at the farthest distance at the local indoor range. You could hear the range go quiet when I returned my target and all the shots were in the black.
And then I found an A Series Model 41.I shoot everything else before I take out the 41 and then I cannot suppress a cheshire grin with every shot.
The balance is excellent and the trigger is exquisite.

This one!

Hands down, my brothers Dan Wesson .41 mag, 8" barrel, with a scope, 2" groups at 100 yards, all day long, 210 Serria over 21.5 grains of 296...

Ruger Mk II Bull Barrel

Indeed for me too. Luckiest gun buy I've ever made.

Edit: Brain fart. Mine is a mark I target. Not sure why I was thinking mark II.

Wow I am floored by the number of people who said the Ruger Mark series. I guess it just must be me? I have a Ruger Mark I not a target series and I have actually recently shot some of my worst scores ever with it.

Although for some reason i still love my Mark I and I refuse to part with it. I wonder how much difference there is between a standard Mark I and a target model? It makes me want to try shooting one of the Mark series in a target model.

Lots of really great guns posted out here. As always a well tuned 1911 seems to be a great choice of gun to shoot and can be very accurate as I have found with most nice 1911's that I have shot.

This is definitley a cool post and I love to hear all the great feedback.

Thank you all.:D

That would be my S&W Model 28-2 with 6" barrel.
I've been shooting it almost every week for 40 years.

The gun that I feel most confident in terms of accuracy when I pick it up is my S&W 1911.

I am a terrible shot, and never have had a target that I could cover with a quarter, dime, etc.--unless I shot it once. But very happy with this at 10 yards as fast as I could pull the trigger.
