Think about this. Are ar-15s and ak-47s the pit bulls and rottweilers of the gun world. Neither the gun or the dog is evil. its up to the owner in both cases. dogs have mauled and killed children. one day will we only be allowed yorkshire terriers and chiuauas? i guess the are the equivalent of .22 revolvers. you see where i'm going with this?

The difference, without getting into dog-breed-bashing, is that you can load the rifle, put a round in the chamber, and lay it in the yard. If it isn't disturbed, it will not hurt anyone. It will lie there until it rusts up, or someone puts it up. If you release a dog from his leash and put him unattended in your yard, depending on his temperament and breeding, he may or may not hurt someone.

Comparisons of animate and inanimate objects usually don't work too well.

evil people can get a hold of both inantimate objects and animals. i bet even a golden retriever in the wrong hands could do some damage.

i'm not saying we should ban dog but we need to think about a waiting period for the more "dangerous" breeds:D.

Dogs can hurt people on their own, even when they have nice masters who try to train them well. Many have very strong personalities.

There are a LOT of serious dog bites every year.

Some insurance companies won't insure houses with certain "vicious" dogs, or will charge them higher rates. I wonder if that is coming down the line for gun owners?

Germany. If you have certain dogs you have to pay insurance.

Germany. Tough to get a gun licence and guns are even fewer than dogs on their approval list.

Do we see a pattern here?

U.S.A. Never forget.

:DWell, you have to get a license to marry a woman -- and we know how dangerous they are. And insuring them and their cars does get pretty pricey.:D

I have no idea what kind of gun my wife's dachshund beagle mix is... But I keep her properly secured.
