The wonderful world of J-frames!

I carry this 3" J frame in a pocket holster aroud the house or in a Crossbreed IWB out on the town. J frames are about as perfect as it gets in my opinion.

I have owned J frames off and on for years and they have served me well.

I am down to only one right now but it has never let me down.

I also have 642 power port just like this with the same color and type grips. Love it. I got 340PD used a few months back, nice but I like my 642. Sweet.

there's a 642 power port for sale here, it was priced at $450 and i got the man down to $325. no box, safety key or the cable lock. dirty as hell and a few scratches. what do you think of that price?

Not sure what Power Port stands for. We bought a 442 and a 642, both brand new in the box and paid $345 for one and $355 for the other about 2 years ago. The extra $10 was for an extra set of pink grips that were included with one of them.

power port is the piece in post 47. there's a hole on the top of the barrel between the end of the barrel and the front sight. it's suppose to cut down on the gun jumping up from the recoil. the barrel is 2 1/8" long to accommodate for the hole.

I need to find out where to post my question about, or maybe find an answer to, my S&W 38 model 36. Lots of threads here so I would guess it's here somewhere.
You are allowed to start a new thread. This one is two years old!

I'm a big fan, the only revolvers I own are S&W j-frames. I have 4: two 36's & two 60's, all vintage pinned barrel models. I had a very nice old model 37 with box etc that I sold today-- it was just too nice to hack up by bobbing the hammer to match my EDC 36 & 60. I'll have to find another one (shooter-grade) for that.

Well, a guy only gets to make one "first post" -- so mine is about the first S&W I ever shot. This Model 36 came to my dad from a neighbor widow of a good friend. And dad, a WW II vet, gave it to me before he passed in 2011 at 92. Some folks keep the first dollar they ever made, I have the first brass and lead slug I shot. And, yes, it was dead center. Love my M&P9, but cherish this old J frame.

The 642 power port has a large gas port at the front of the barrel to help with recoil. It also has a dovetailed front sight and some come with a single dot night sight.

Just sold my m&p 340, picking up a 640 pro series Wednesday. I also own a 940-1. post pics Wednesday :)
And yes, recoil was the reason I sold it. A 13 ounce .357 is just plain painful. It was a back up gun on my ankle only and I only carried 38+p in it due to it being impossible for me to shoot accurately support handed only.
