I am pleading to all gun enthusiasts not to use the term "Assault weapon" in your descriptions...you only feed the frenzy of the anti-weapon establishment.

We are our own worst enemy when we use "their" term

If you have a "sporting rifle" or "personal defense rifle", I would certainly know what you are talking about.

using the word AW is akin to the word Kleenex....It is simply a paper tissue but over the years it has been used so often that society always says "pass me a Kleenex"

DONT FEED THE MONKEYS
ENJOY YOUR PDW.....PERSONAL DEFENSE WEAPON

thx for looking:)

Yup,
When some one says assault rifle in my presents...

I ask, "You don't mean an Armalite Rifle do you?"

I own a Armalite type Rifle, an AR-15...Great ranch rifle,
it's got a 2-7X scope, rides in the pickup truck everyday.

Oh, by the way....(whispered) That 'AR' isn't an acronym for assault rifle...That's jest a political buzz word.

Would you like to come out for our next ranch BBQ?
Good food, music and bring something to shoot,
we'll have clay pigeons, with pistol targets set up and
maybe a rifle range as well.

Be a great time to get to shoot an AR Armalite rifle and judge for yourself! :D

Actually, calling any tissue other than a Kleenex tissue a "Kleenex" is a trademark infringment. Same for the over-used work Xerox. The conmpanies did not protect it and they have become common use now. I wouldn't try that with "Coke" though, they're very protective, as is "McDonalds."

Perhaps a "persuasion device" would be more to your liking? But if forced, I'm going to "assault" the BG with it--regardless of what it's called.

What's next? Firearm vs weapon?

Local newspaper in my little town, in an attempt to stir up an argument and devide the townspeople (what the media loves to do) front paged a pic of our local hardware store / gun shop proprietor holding a 15-22.
Headline---ASSAULT RIFLES: Residents speak out----
the writer searched dictionaries until they found, and quoted Merriam Webster as "any automatic or semiautomatic....large capacity magazines designed for military use."
So by stretching the truth (?) they pretend to use correct terminology. Then referred to "clips" a dozen times.
Repeat a lie enough....

Rifle works for me, or maybe long gun. Seeing as how I am not going to be assaulting anything I have no need for an assault weapon.

I advise my CC trainies......

That I carry, "MY Personal Defense Firearm." It's jest kinder and gentler. ;):D

Kinda like on a traffic stop,

Officer: "Sir/Ma'am do have any thing illegal or weapons in the vehicle?"

Motorist: "No Sir Officer, I do have my Personal Defense Firearm/Sidearm on my person though."

Or in glove compartment, er where ever.

When i work traffic...Kinda got a kick out this guy one time,
trying to minic a quote from a movie.

When I ask about firearms he sez, "Yeah, I got a weapon...A Big One!"

It kinda went down hill after that. ;):D

I don't really care either way, all that much.

Well I'd love to come to the BBQ. Sounds like a hoe down to me. :D:D

In FL if an LEO asks if you have a weapon, and you have only a firearm, the legal answer is "No." The legal definition of "weapons" does not include firearms, which are defined separately. The LEO, however, may take exception to your answer if your "firearm" is noticed.

I'm OK with simply a personal defense firearm, or a hunting rifle, or a sport/target rifle. Assault weapon belongs to all military only versions, and realistically, should be called assault/defense weapon.

When I was a young Jarhead our rifle instructors referred to it as the, "Matty Mattel M16".

I preferred the M14 and because I was in the airwing (wingwiper) we qualified with those each year instead of the "Matty Mattel M16".

I felt lucky.
