Been hearing the phrase, term, for several years but never really knew what it was till recently. Guess I have one and have for many years.....It's my 2006 Artic Fox cab over camper, 11.5 ft with slider. Has 2500watt propane generator, two 7 gallon propane tanks, 50 or 60 gallon fresh water, black & gray water holding tanks. Great sterio, 3 way frig, DC, AC, Propane, Two way hot water heater, Propane, elec and on and on. Love this camper. Wife had a hard long week and went to bed a few hours ago and me and the 6 dogs are hanging out in the FOX with the sterio going and I'm giving them chunks of Premium Canned Ham. Oh yea, a glass of 14 HANDS VINEYARDS wine, 2008.

Guess this is my man cave.

We go camping lots and spend time camping up in the mountains, nuten but fun.

Do you have a man cave?? Kind of dumb term if ya ask me.

As a builder,I always thought it to be a very dumb term.

Let's see,which would I rather have.....a cave...or...a "shop"?A cave...or...a den?A cave...or...a garage?

Beats me where these things originate?

Since I live by myself, as timn8er said the whole house could be considered a man cave. But my bedroom (19 by 22) with a 42 inch screen TV mounted to the wall, a leather recliner and a 7 by 17 foot closet with a dressing area and a workbench where I do small gun repair is my man cave. I have it decorated with cases of railroad watches, some awards i won during my career and a damascus stiletto.

I would like to mount guns on the walls, but the safe seems more secure.

Hi:
I "HAD" a "GUY DEN" for a little while. Then little by little a unseen invasion began. First it was a picture, than new chair covers, then CURTAINS, then a second TV. Soon Jimmy's stuff was in a corner of the den and there were Wife, Daughter, neighborhood females everywhere.
Never having success in resisting GIRLS and Their "Doo Dats" I struck my colors and retreated to the basement.

I added a 15'x35' shop alongside my existing two car garage. That is my 'man cave' if that's what the new term is.

That's how it starts, Jimmy:a slow, insidious invasion, done gradually so you don't realize whats going on. Sure...chair covers, curtains, a flounce here & there...before you know it, you're looking at duvets & color swatches. Cozies will be installed on EVERYTHING, even toasters. You'll have to leave your, uh, "testosterone" at the door, in a box on the porch! Just kidding. Truth is I still miss my Ex. Not as much as I do my four legged best buddy, Otto, but I do miss her.:D

Mine is my finished basement where I have antique hunting stuff and a few old wall hanger shotguns and bows. My wife pretty much leaves it alone except one end where she scrapbooks on a table and her piano.
My gun/reloading room is just off that with the house mechanicals.

Women want us to listen sympathetically while they vent and I think it is important for a man to have a place he can go and be alone and decompress.

truer words never spoken.

women also need a place where they can go. This is my practice room or the kitchen.

Kids and adolescents also need private space.

EVERYONE does.

To the bat cave, man cave, garage, wherever!
