9C or fs 9mm?

I have had a fs 9mm m&p for about 2 years now & LOVE it! Only prob is I recently got my ccl. Thinking bout trading it in 4 a 9C. I need a weapon for home defense & conceal carry. The fs is a bit big for cc. Besides recoil, & mag. size (I know I will be paying out the nose 4 a 17rd range mag), are there ANY other noticeable differences between the two guns? Thanks

I would get the compact and keep the FS9. I have a M&P FS 9 Pro, 9c, and 45 and love them all. Other than being smaller and having a smaller grip there aren't any major noticeable differences between the FS and the compact. I have an FS Pro so the trigger is better than on my compact or 45 but after putting almost 1200 rounds through my compact the trigger has smoothed out nicely.

It's a little smaller and lighter. Lighter still when carrying only 12+1 rounds. It all makes a difference on your belt.

I have both. Carry the FS all the time. Try changing holsters.

Ya, I know, but I only got 2 mags for it (17 rd.) & IF I trade in the fs for the 9C I'm sure the lgs will want both mags that came with the gun. Unless I happen to misplace 1 of them that day

I have both and with a blade-tech paddle holster can conceal the FS just about as easily as the C at about the 4:30-5:00 position. I wear a suit or sport coat most days at work, there is a difference of course but the FS isn't that much harder to conceal for my body/dress style.

There is very little difference between the two. Your choice (and reasoning) are very sound. You will be happy with the compact.

I 1st got the FS & then the C to carry, was to hard for me to conceal & ended up getting a single stack 9mm.
FS 17 round mags are out there just have to shop around. Crazy $ on gunbroker & armslist, found LGS wanted $60 & I passed, found 1 for $46 & maybe a few more @ $50.

I agree here but I suggest you rent one or hold one at a store and see how much real difference there is in your holster. Then compare it to a single stack. I did and I'm holding out on a Shield because for me the compact was not smaller enough to matter much. For me it's the width of the slide that makes it comfortable. Almost bought a Ruger LC9 but I couldn't get past the trigger.

I find the full size is just as easy to conceal as the C.

I FINALLY got my 9C today It took alot of searching between the couch cusions, but I was able to scrape up enough cash to purchase it WITHOUT trading in my fs 9mm. Just got off phone with S & W , & my complimentary 12 rd. (pinky ext,) mag is on its way Next step, hit her with frog lube

If you can swing it keep the first and get the compact. I'm not going to be getting rid of anything gun-related with the way things are going. Now I wish I had not traded in my mod 10 but at the time it was a way that I could get my 686.

I think you'd be a fool to trade it in at a LGS. They probably won't give you much more for it than the value of the mags. Either sell it outright or keep it and have a couple 17 rnd mags you can use in the 9c if you choose.

Congrats! I just hooked into a fullsize M&P9. Same size as my M&P22. I can carry the FS M&P9 no problem. I have a Gen4 Glock 26 that I carry concealed most of the time.

I am glad the OP got both. I own both too, and I completely disagree with the folks saying that the FS is just as easy to conceal as the C. Night and day. Try carrying the FS on your ankle.
