Took apart the upper and the lower to clean it and i noticed a lil rattle in the lower. I flipped it upside down and noticed that this piece has broken off!

Last week it was the trigger rods moving now this!

Does anyone know what could be this piece could be and what are the steps to get it sent back to S&W?

Looks like part of a spring? Maybe from the trigger? I'm probably way off
Just call S&W, they'll ask for the serial # and what's wrong, then they'll send you a FedEx label for you to send it back. Took 2 weeks from the time FedEx picked up my gun till they brought it back.

Fairly sure it is a broken spring from the Fire Control Group. Watch this video below. It goes over assembly an AR15 lower and it is close enough for you to determine where that broke off of.

Since you said that the trigger pins were walking on you, then I would assume it J spring for the hammer. If you don't want to deal with sending your rifle in you can swap out the FCG very easily. A great replacement FCG would be the ALG QMS. Rog Tactical has them for $45.00 shipped.

We see these threads every week now.

S&W is using garbage FCG's in the 15-22's lately. They "fixed" something that wasn't broke. When you contact them, let them know the guys on the forum are on to them and we aren't going to let it slide.

I'm not a S&W fan boy, so I'm not going to be quiet about it.
