The hammer drops in Connecticut

Reply to Thread

I moved from the north about a year ago and now residing in Lexington KY. I have two good politicians standing up for my 2nd amendment rights and am proud to be a Kentuckian! :D ...I have not given up the fight though for the rest of the states that are experiencing the injustices of the Gun Grabbers, I will fight to the end to help support our second amendment rights!

I'm sitting happy in my gun-friendly state of SC. But as states tumble like dominoes to the gun-grabbers, it is going to get very hard to keep from being pulled under with them.

Also glad to be in the great state of SC here in the upstate. Lots of independent minded folks here who just want the government to mind their business and we'll mind ours. Very glad that we have a strong defender of the 2nd in our governor's mansion as well.

One section of the bill requires state issued eligibility certificates for the purchase of weapons or ammunition.

So, who is eligible and who is not eligible and who makes that decision? The eligibility certificate requirement is so open-ended that everyone in the state could be deemed not eligible.

You mean Connecticutt is a state -- I learn something new on this forum every day:D

It's a state of denial, a state of confusion, and a state of hypocrisy, among other things.

Back in the recession of the early '90s, CT lost thousands of jobs in banking and insurance. Much of it had to do with the state refusing to offer incentives and tax breaks for companies to remain. The result? Both industries left, decimating CT for years. Now with Colt (and others) contemplating taking $2.5 billion in state revenue elsewhere, CT's ruling class is in the process of forcing another industry and untold $ out the door. This doesn't include the numerous gun shops and shooting sports-related businesses that will suffer across the state. CT has some of the dumbest and most clueless individuals running the show.

Born and raised in CT, lived in MA for 12 years, moved to WV IN '82, never looked back. When will they realize that YOU CAN'T LEGISLATE SANITY!

Pretty sad

I hate reading that this is going on in your state, when here in Utah they are doing things like trying to make it legal to carry concealed without a permit. The governor didn't let it pass but their is word it will be vetowed by the legislature. Even if it doesn't happen, at least we aren't going the other way and taking away more rights. Utah loves it's guns and owners.

I am sad that a state that played such an important role in the creation of this wonderful country has just given up without a whimper.

The problem is that most gun people have jobs and are responsible. Its not like were the people who just call out of work or neglect our responsibilities at the the drop of the hat...

I could not go, why?

Somethings are scheduled out weeks in advance. I had to got to an event with customers. Nothing could be moved, worked around or scheduled.

Lastly the deck was stacked. I dont care if every citizen in the state showed up. The grabbers were going to push this through no matter what.

It could have been worse, I think the pressure that was put on in the last months did help. It stopped the most reaching measures.

How much of this will stand as court rule on it is now the only question and time will tell.

I am sad/angry that this happened but glad its over. Now the fear of the governments over reach is known. This can be fought differently.

Its funny how things change so quickly. About a year ago and up till December we thought that the state was going to lighten up some rules on banned items. The way the state was interpreting some laws had changed in our favor.

I blame the other people in the state that vote for stateist/progressives. They wait for tragedy to strike then stand on it to push forward their agenda. (sorry if that is political but its how the vote went its not a D vs R)

OH, so you may feel as if I didnt try to help with this mess. While I dont have a life that lets me do things at the drop of a hat. I did do the thing I felt I could do give money to the cause $$

"Hundreds" showed up in Hartford today.

The Day - Hundreds rally in Hartford against gun control bill | News from southeastern Connecticut

I'd like to tip my hat to the fine Americans who showed up in Hartford today. God bless you all.

As far as the hundreds of thousands of Connecticut gun owners who didn't bother, are indifferent or supportive of this legislation... well...

Phil
as someone who took numerous days off taking friends and family to Hartford, and worked nights to build an email data base of friendly gun owners so word could be spread daily on needed letters or calls I take offense at your grandstanding.
Please tell me how we change the votes of a seated, fully democratic controlled, body with a democratic governor? 3000 gun owners filled their offices to let them know how we felt more than once. (Largest turnout for an action in the recent history of the building) Oh and by the way a fully compliant media that under reports every turnout of gun owners at every event?
By the way the only two democrats that voted No, The two districts surrounding my home.

Any of your help over here would be gladly received.
Thanks for your support pal.

Nothing to hang your head for, my neighbors to the east, we do what we can to the best of our abilities. 54 of 58 Sheriffs in NY came out against the misnomered SAFE law, to no avail, the elites don't listen. 10-15,000 people rallied in Albany against SAFE, the Gov left town.
Fact is, as stated, they won't listen no matter what, as the die was cast years ago. They've been waiting for "events" to come together for their purpose.
It's hard a heck to leave the place I was born and raised, but I've made the choice to leave and it's only a matter of timing and where to relocate to. I'm blessed to have grown up here in NY, it's helped make me the person who I am today.
Not everyone can up and leave, like so many flippantly suggest, everyone needs to do what's right for them.
Good luck to all in Ct and God Bless.

The anti-gun lefties depend on the "dangerous felons" in order to push their anti-gun agenda. Without the felons, there would be no need for gun control.

Capital punishment for murderers! Both houses in CT are Democrat-controlled, and Obama is surely spending our tax dollars speeding to the state as we speak.

It looks like the country is shaping up for another Civil War. Got to admit the South was wrong the first time. (but only on Slavery) This time we got it right and will win in the end. It's about states rights all over again so if you can, get out of the North and come stand for your rights. I honestly believe it's a lost cause for the "Communist States" up north. Call me extreme but I try to live in the world of reality. Let's hope the big gun manufacturers follow through and leave those states.

My state is "up north". we have gun laws as good or better than most states down south. don't lump us in all togather.

North,South,East,West,Red State,Blue State.
If you are reading this post, you love guns. We all have to stick together on this one,We all have to be more vigilant!
