Maryland was forewarned some years ago, that stricter gun control laws would have a negative effect on business. Beretta had already moved a warehouse to Virginia, and now, it looks like manufacturing is also going.

The old adage, "Sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind", seems appropriate.

Beretta Leaves Maryland Because of Stricter Gun Laws

sweet come to the south, we love guns and you will never ever have to deal with the **** you have to deal with there and we give you all sort of tax breaks.

Aloha,

When Beretta leaves, MD and others will learn what happens when

they Piss Off Beretta(the Family)

I think Mr Beretta(President of the Company) will do something

That will make others realize there are Consequences to Bad laws.

Remember, the Family business has survived 500 years of Italian Politics.

They know how to play Hardball.

Can't wait to hear the arms and ammo companies in Ct. are pulling out. I would hate to have to boycott them for staying, but I dang sure would.

I'm not sure we've got this right. I once learned dealing with some very unsavory people that when the two of you are in the same space, you can choose to leave and ease your own uncomfortableness or you can make them uncomfortable enough to leave....

That about sums up my thoughts on it. Why should any of us leave our state for as few elected officals that just need to be educated about what we will accept and what is distainfully unacceptable to us.

Tough and sad decisions. I'd lean toward stating the intent and making necessary plans to move if the legislation and legislators are still in place after next election cycle. Problem is demographics. Tough to measure true level of awareness out there. Many are either uninterested, unaware, under the influence of the emotion potion or too young to understand the historical significance.

I seriously doubt if the lawmakers and governor of Maryland care if Berretta packs up and leaves their state. They are true believers, and probably are saying good riddance to bad rubbish.

Good then I hope all the firearms makers find themselves in the same situation and move to the south. We already have the Walther/ Umarex plant would love to have more. The most historic move would be if Colt left. It it truly would be a tyrannical dictatorship of the north.

James, Colt is looking for facilities in another state, read a news article 2 days ago about it. Colt has bee in Conn. for 175 years and currently employs 670 people and their CEO has stated they are considering moving. Stag arms and Savage have facilities in Conn also, Savage has a facility in Texas as well and are talking about expanding the Texas plant, but are concerned that the move would take away part of their manufacturing for the better part of a year. I think that any manufacturer stays in an anti gun state, is insanity at its best, especially when there are so many gun friendly states! I have never understood the fact that Smith & Wesson remains in Mass. along with Remington, Mass has some of the most restictive gun laws in the nation, why would any CEO stay?

Somewhat unrelated but then again...
It has to come down to cost of moving/ relocating, etc. versus what the new location could give in return for getting the business. I wonder what it would cost Jack Daniels to relocate out of a dry county? You can make it in Lynchburg,TN but you can't buy it there. Sounds similar :p
How many more deaths (compared to gun related) are the result of alcohol. They tried banning liquor before and we saw how that turned out. Just sayin'

Beretta has been around for hundreds of years, and has survived Italian politics during that time. They didn't survive by concentrating on short-term strategies.

Jack Daniels is irrelevant unless you can point out an identical water source in a wet county - change the water, change the product.

Bans wont work, everyone but the lady that thought magazines were one-time use items understands that.
