Some of us have to listen to the little lady on the subject........ and most men let them say what goes down.
I did not have any say in the matter but we have two small dogs and only one likes to get up on the bed and stays at our feet.

Tonight is her last time on the bed due to kidney failure and she will see the vet at 8:30am in the morning along with her favorite toy to keep her company.

Later.

Been there--done that--more than once--probably 50 times. If you aint got a tear in your eye you aint human. Its the same every time.

Back before I was married[25 years ago] I occasionally woke up with an animal in my bed.It always followed a night of too much to drink and too little self control. I seem to remember a few that I needed a flag to cover their faces, several that needed one or two bags over their heads, thankfully there were no coyotes,' cause I still have both of my arms! As far as dogs and cats.. I hate cats and wouldn't own one, I love ,and have had dogs, that I loved. But, they can sleep on the floor next to the bed but NEVER in or on the bed.
Dogs know pack instinct and understand who is the Alpha male and they assume their place in the pack order. That ain't sleeping with the dominate male[me]. Nick

It's a dogs life. From field to bed

IN MY NEXT LIFE I WONT TO COME BACK AS YOUR DOG.

I said no, across the board. But realisticly that would only apply to dogs. If ANYONE can train a cat to do something the cat doesen't already want to do, they are a much better trainer then me.

I married a gal much like Ellie Mae Clampett of " The Beverly Hillbillies." Being a farm girl and the daughter of a veteranarian, she likes having critters: two horses, two dogs, and three cats. Thankfully, the horses won't fit on our King.

My pets are my kids, and i love them like they are my own flesh and blood. If my pets want to get on the bed, i sure as heck let them. My home is their home and we would both protect our home and family if needs be.

My pets are lucky, because they live one easy *** life. I ask nothing of them except to love me, protect me, and to always use the bathroom outside. It seems to work out for all of us that way.

Not to upset the horse lovers here (I'm one) but....there was that 70's ethnic movie where some horse parts ended up in a reluctant movie producer's bed. Sorry!:o:o:o

I would not allow our Great Pyrenees on the bed, but she would often be on the bed when I woke up in the morning. I never heard her jump up on the bed. One night I laid very still and watched her. She moved slowly up to my wife's face and got very close to her. Obviously checking to see if she was asleep. She then went to the foot of the bed and jumped up, landing with cat-like grace, hardly making a sound. She then quietly curled up at foot of bed. Amazing for a dog weighing over 100 lbs.

The problem was as time went on she would lay next to me and if I rolled she would roll with me, blocking my movement back to any previous position. Often I'd wake up almost falling out of the bed, with her stretched out between my wife and me.

She had to be put down a couple years ago, at a very old age of almost 13. In her final year she quit hopping up on the bed and curled up on the floor with our old, chubby and arthritic Rottweiler who never was able to get up on the bed, other than getting her front paws up on bed to snap playfully at the Pyr.

I have a fairly new dog....a little (52lb.) pitbull/lab mix. Maya. We got her when she was a little-bitty thing (8lbs.) She's 14 months old now and she sleeps in the bed with my wife and I. My last dog, Roxy, a lab/shepherd mix, also slept with us. Maya can hear a pin drop (as could Roxy) and is a great watchdog. If she barks, I know something is up. Usually, it's just deer or other critters in the back yard....we have an apple tree and a pear tree which attracts them...but, hey...ya never know.

Nothing more you can do--You did your part.--Some times you got to bite the bullet.

I am just honored that my fur babies allow the wife and I to share their bed, house, patio, yard, SUV, Surburban, Camping trailer and especially for allowing us the use of their firearms. The wife works nights so that makes for a lot more room but when she is off we all still fit in the bed just fine. Thats the wife, me and our 10 fur babies (miniature Dachshunds) Our cats are outside cats. Our babies have first dibs onb the couch recliner and any other place they want. They bring so much happiness and peace and entertainment and companionship they are entitled to it. Right now we have 11 furkids since were long term baby sitting our sons mini dachshund as well.

I feel for ya Ed, I've gone through that a few times. It's a rough time to go through.

Hmmmm...dog sleeps on couch....I sleep on couch..= dog sleeps in bed.

Dog sleeps on floor, sometimes I sleep on floor. = dog sleeps in bed.

Dog falls asleep in chair, sometimes I fall asleep in chair. = dog sleeps in bed.

Dog gets sick and sleeps in her bed, I sleep beside her. = Man sleeps beside dog!!!

Different strokes, for different strokes, but she's probably healthier and ?????? more hygienic than I am some times.

She's never come to bed with any dingle berries.. Never had a dream in the middle of the night and left a spot on the sheets.. Never come to bed tipsy.. Never pulled the covers off my shoulder in the middle of the night.. Bed doesn't sink in the middle when she's in it..Doesn't mind my morning breath.

So yep, she can get up on the bed with me...for the whole night, I don't mind.:):):)
