I was going through some of my stash today and found some of these boxes of .22 Remington boxes of 100 round ammo. I know we will never see these prices again! I can tell you how old one box is since in 1995 the Joy store went out of business. Everything in the store was 50% off towards the end and I remember buying bricks of .22 and a whole case of .30-30 that I paid $50 for. I remember buying a box of fifty Winchester Wildcats for $.95, and that was BEFORE they started marking stuff down. I wish now I had bought every last box of .22 on the shelf.

The second box is maybe a few years newer and it has not even been opened, for $4.99 for a hundred. I have to go through and shoot up some of the older stuff when I go out again.

Hind sight is 20/20. Those were the days my friend,
we thought they'd never end. But they did.

Good prices are still out there though (maybe not .03 a round). Most of the stuff I buy is .04-.05, which isn't bad.

Remember BEST Products, the catalog store?
When they went out of business, I bought ALL their handgun ammo from one location. Two shopping carts full. They priced the rimfire at the individual box price for an entire brick, then discounted it over 50%.
So, we're talking like .49 cents for a brick of 500.
Individual boxed centerfire was 80% off. I almost got the shelves, too, but had no means to transport them!

I have a different plan. I'm saving the older stuff and shooting the newer ammo. I believe the older ammo, particularly rimfire, is higher quality.
I have some Remington 9mm that is scary accurate in everything I use it in. I'm saving the little bit I have left because I have never been able to load anything that could touch it. If I ever have a need for super accurate 9mm, I still have a small stash.

Oh my that is outstanding. :)

I just shot a box of 50 that cost me 89¢. I can't even remember when I bought them. The price tag said JC Penney. I also have several boxes that cost $1.23. Those were the good old days.
