They're talking about the underground trade in arms. Arms for diamonds, arms for drugs, arms for gold. They want them to keep track of military weapons. Not privately owned firearms. Machine-guns, cannons, helicopter gunships, gunboats, that kind of thing.

All the UN agreements in the world won't effect us as long as we say no. (and "WE" did say no!)

Why would they need to have another country come to confiscate arms when we have a willing government and the DHS?

About half of the US military would not and I suspect that many LEO would not. On the other hand it won't be LEO or our military doing it.

If your information is coming from the internet, remember that most inflamatory stories can not be verified with a reliable source. Many seem to originate from parts of two or three different stories using the 1+1=11 principal. Try to track down the original source and check it for reliability. Any source that seems to be fanning the flames is suspect-and this does include CNN and NRA.

This alone should be more than enough for us to withdraw and kick them out of N.Y.

It all boils down to those 67 votes in favor of ratifying the treaty. I won't say that will never happen, but on the other hand, finding 67 senators who will publicly vote to surrender our sovereignty may be a tough one. All it takes for bad people to get together and take away our rights is for one person (a whole bunch of "one persons") not to get out and vote!

As far as cops confiscating firearms from otherwise law abiding citizens in CA and NY at the moment - I haven't heard any stories. I know that the CA DOJ was given $24 million to go after those 1400 or so "unregistered" or otherwise illegally possessed assault rifle look-alikes, but haven't heard that they've actually begun. I recall from living in CA in the early-mid 90s that CA's firearms registration bureaucracy was so full of holes and inaccuracies that it was almost impossible to legally enforce. I don't know if that has changed.

I would encourage everyone on this site who is not an NRA member to consider spending the $35 you can't spend on ammo right now (cause there ain't any) to join and stay on top on the issue. There are law suits being filed around the country where states have dwelved into draconian gun laws. I hope they win. In the mean time, stay on top of the issues.
