OK first off: greetings everyone! Was in the local gunshop the other day and saw a new PC629. Never had an interest in N frame double action 44's but this one spoke to me for some reason. Bought it on a whim, took it home, took my scoldings from the wife:-), took it to the range and shot 50 rounds or so through it. Wow, great gun. The only other 44mag I've ever owned was a super blackhawk with the 4 5/8 bbl. Loved that gun but unfortunately traded it towards the purchase of a new bow years ago. This was a nice re-introduction to the 44 mag caliber...no regrets, nice piece, it's a keeper. On to the grips...let me first say that I've had 1911 grips from VZ and they have always been top notch. I also have one pair of black G10 J frame grips from VZ, also top notch. These are...well....ok. Small gap at top towards the trigger guard where the pointer finger goes. Sharp raised frontsrap where the finger grooves meet. The backstrap is a little off on one side where the frame comes up proud over the grip. All in all I'm satisfied but not blown away. However, given my past experience I will probably try them again when they make the K frames ( I'm just guessing they might). Thanks for looking, stay safe.

Were those 50-rounds full-house magnum, or specials? I own the same gun and can only stomach 25 or so rounds of full-house before I say 'enough!' Love mine, I kept the stock grips on it.

I also had an IWB leather holster made for it, from RGrizzle Leather.

Halvenut,

Recoil wasn't too bad. I had Pachmayr "Grippers" on for that shoot, so very manageable. I figure these new grips will not be as forgiving.

Yes full-house rounds, but spread out over two hours of shooting...I'm getting soft in my old age. If you could ever post a pic of that holster I would surely appreciate it.

Here ya go, it literally makes the N frame disappear.
