Anti 2A liberals (read Bloomberg) are pushing the start of gun grab in Nevada. Please call Governor Sandoval and help him to decide which way to vote. 775-84-5670.

Thanks to all.

Help Nevada Governor Make Up His Mind

Encourage the Nevada Governor to Veto Gun Control!
Gov. Sandoval is sticking his finger in the wind,
trying to decide whether to issue veto

You don’t even have to live in Nevada.

But you should know that Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval (R) is trying to decide whether he should sign or veto SB 221, a bill so extreme that the left-of-center United States Senate even voted down a version of it.

If he signs this Universal Background Check bill, it will have ramifications for you -- even if you don’t live in the Silver State.

So please call 775-684-5670 and press “2” -- to vote AGAINST the universal background check bill (SB 221). You don’t have to live in the state. You don’t even have to give your name or address -- the entire process is automated and it will take you less than 13 seconds.

There are many reasons why ALL gun owners from around the country should call.

For starters, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is generating his own calls into the Governor’s hotline, encouraging the Sandoval to sign the background (registration) bill.

I've called 5 times already. I need to call more times today. It is what they do in Chicago, isn't it? Vote early and often.

Bloomberg is going from Colorado to Nevada. We are having recalls here. You should do the same if they pass these laws.

Governor Sandoval has said through a spokesperson that he
will veto SB 221 which would require a background check thru
an FFL for all private firearm sales.

If he does so, we'll be safe until our progressive liberal
dominated state legislature reconvenes in 2015.

Nevada has a fbi check with all sales as of today, that has been on the books for years.

So if this "New" bill is passed, who else will check out your records ?? !! CIA ? NCIS? Hawaii 5-0 ?

I was surprised that an anti gun bill of any kind would pass in nevada..I lived there in the late 70's and early 80's (Reno area) and I can't even imagine a anti gun bill passing. Well in 90% of the state. Las Vegas is the exception..Las Vegas is not western....Transplanted eastern residents, casino workers. Not bad but different from most Nv, residents. Remember even Claud
Dallas had a lot of supporters in Nevada....I guess Nevada has changed since the late 70's and early 80's....To bad Northern Nv. was a nice place to live.......

Maybe I am missing something here. Why is an official background check such a bad idea? How would I, as a private citizen, know the guy I am selling to was never committed on a 5150, or that he has no felonies? ... Out of all the other gun control nonsense, a background check sounds like the one thing that might make some sense, doesn't it?

Because it is the precursor to registration. Currently, all 4473's go to BATFE once an FFL gives up or loses his license. This means that over time, every 4473 eventually ends up with the BATFE.

Unless someone trusts the government (IRS, NSA, etc) the only defense against a useful registry are private sales not documented on 4473's. The antigunner background check puts every transaction on a 4473, all of which eventually end up with BATFE.

Senator Coburn had proposed a more pure background check bill without any record keeping requirement (which would have passed a Senate vote), but that was rejected by the Democrats in favor of Senator Schumer's version. That tells me that the background check itself is not what the antigunners care about. They want the record keeping.

" ... Out of all the other gun control nonsense, a background check sounds like the one thing that might make some sense, doesn't it?"

Additionally, think about the mechanics of this proposal. You as a private individual cannot access the NICS system. You will have to have the check conducted by some authorized body, usually a Licensed FFL Dealer. Not only cumbersome, but costly. The dealer will have to log the gun in to his books, conduct the check, then log it out to the seller. Dealers in these parts charge up to $70 for this process ($35 in, $35 out). Then there is the gas and time involved. When the process is complete, the Feds get your gun on the books, the dealer makes a chunk of cash, and with the cost of transaction added to the deal, the price of the gun goes up.

The sad thing is that "Universal Back Ground Checks" will be anything but and therefore ineffective at accomplishing anything other than reducing your privacy (read: Liberty) and separating you from your money. Only the Good Guys will comply, and the Bad Guys will still get them the old fashioned way, IE: Black Market or stealing them.

A very bad idea all the way around.
