Hi,

My first post. :)

I didnt want to start a new thread, but i couldnt find the answer to this.

I just got myself a new Governor and wanted to know do the moon clips sit in the cylinder the rounded side or the flat side?

Part of me thinks the flat side sits in the cylinder but then maybe the flat side is how the 45s attach to the moon clips.

The rounded side is on the left and flat is on the right.

Thanks for any help.

With those Metal Clips it won't matter, the rimz plastic moonclips have a recess that the cartridge rim sits in, if you put them in backward the Cylinder won't close

I'm a total nut I always face the flat side to the firing pin

That's Crazy talk! Flat part goes towards the cylinder so you don't scuff up the shinny side.

When I clean mine, I clean the rounded side first.

I just discovered a real problem...oh what to do?? I was loading some moonclips with .45 GAP ammo for an IDPA match tomorrow( I'll be shooting a 325PD) and realized the clips are FLAT ON BOTH SIDES! How in the heck will I be able to tell which side is up(or down)?

This is no doubt yet another area where I over-think things.

I assume that the flat side goes against the cylinder, as it rotates with the cylinder and does not slide against it. IE, it is stationary with respect to the cylinder.

Conversely, the round side does move with respect to the recoil shield. Being round would allow it to slide more easily. Of course, it never touches the recoil shield due to the protrusion of the cartridge heads, but if it did touch there would be less friction. :D

This is all too complicated.

At least with an automatic's magazine, you can load the cartridges any way you like.
