Finding powder is difficult and I'm getting close to being on my last pound and need to expand my horizons when looking at powders that might be on the shelf. Problem being is I walk into a store and they usually have a brand that I have not used nor know a lot about. I've been spending some time reviewing the site for reviews and they obviously are all over the place.

I made an list of some of the common ones that I see pop up in the forums and want to know what is the powder you think is the best for 9mm overall. I don't load anything else other than 9mm so I'm not worried about compatibility with other calibers. This way I can keep a look out for the top 3-5 off this poll when I go from store to store.

I purposely left off Alliant Power Pistol & Unique since that what I usually utilize.

AA7 for full bore loads, imr 7625 for 115 jrn practice loads.

IMO Zeke has nailed it pretty darned well, AA#7 for hot loads and SR7625 for range loads. Both powders meter exceptionally well and can actually be found in my area. BTW, it will be a bit of a drive but Fin, Feather, and Fur in Ashland, Ohio had ample supplies of both powders in stock when I was there 2 weeks ago. In fact they had the Accurate #7 in the 8 lbs. kegs.

I'll take anything these days

I hear that if you shred up old nitrate movie film it's basically the same as smokeless powder. If things don't lighten up soon I may be trying that. Pre-1930 movie film would be a lot easier to find than gunpowder.

I've always considered 231 and Bullseye too fast for 9mm. Unique and Universal have been my powders of choice. Although when loading lead I have used AA#2 with some success. I think I will load some FMJ with 231 and see how it does.

I'm a big fan of tite group. Run it in everything I reload. I have some unique but once I'm finished with that I will not repurchase, its very dirty.

True Blue and AA7. Both are the most accurate in my 9MM Hi-Power. When I get around to loading for my CZ75 Compact who knows what the most accurate will be?

I voted AA#7 but I go back and forth between it an W231. I am about to try out some Bullseye, AutoComp, AA#2, and Power Pistol.

I have been using Vihtavuori N320 powder for sub-sonic 9mm loads using a 147 grainer. Works well in full auto mode out of MP 5s and HK pistols.

I've been using surplus 105 (AA5) for years with good results in my 9mm and .38 Super. Almost out of 105. I have WSF on hand so I'll be trying that next.

Autocomp

Howdy,
I picked Bluedot. I load and shoot 9mm in monthly bowling pin 9mm class and seldom shoot target loads etc..
I like hard cast bullets loaded on the hot side and Bluedot was a good choice.
Lately I have been using WW Autocomp as I had a bit of a surplus. Published data is poor and seldom near reality but if crossing the published line doesn't bother you it works well in the 9mm w/ lead bullets.
Thanks
Mike
