Let me start by saying that I am not a a fan of a moblie phone, but I do have one- I consider it a vice, almost evil invention and keep it off 99% of the time.

My mobile phone is going on seven years old, and I've replaced batteries in it two or three times and I hope I can still get one for it- my wife usually helps me with that, as she's a bit more savvy at such things.

I've never been one to to be in on the latest trends, and I have never stood in line for anything- especially at the grocery store and any gunshop. It takes a lot of practice to be a curmudgeon. ;) I wouldn't stand in line for a $100 model 29-3, as my blood would boil after about 3 minutes.

Please explain to me the overwhelmingly unclean spirit of desire that possesses the minds, souls and bodies of people that must have the latest electronic gadget of any kind that has maligned the name of a poor, unsuspecting and innocent fruit.

And we're bothered by what others do why?

Not much difference in what people want. If they want to spend the money, so what?!

People clamor over cars, shoes, video games, and movies. Nothing new here.

Smart phones are better than the old dumb phone. They have become more of a tool. Most don't use them to their fullest extent but some do. And electronics is ever changing. With electronics, most of the time newer IS better.;)

I'm a curmudgeon with an iPhone, I don't do lines either.Downloaded iOS 7 yesterday,what was Ivey thinking!!
That's blinding and incredibly feminine! I may have to give it to my daughter...

I do have one of those little flip phones. Put it in my pocket on trips. Never goes over about 15-20 minutes a month, usually calls to Sal for the whereabouts to meet at a gunshow. :D :D

For a lot of people, (the younger generation especially) the newest or latest and greatest is a status symbol.
Being 57 yrs. old, I'm not one of them. But whatever floats their boat as long as it's legal and is not hurting me. If they want to stand in line all night to get what they want that's up to them.
I don't have the patience, and sleep is more important.
I have a 19yr Old daughter that would probably disagree, but hey I'm use to that.

I don't understand all the hype about the new phones coming out. People line up to be the first to get them and why I don't know. Its not like they are not going to make any more of them. They just got to have the first ones I guess.

My wife and sons know my rant well. I hate to stand line line to give someone my money. The DMV line is the same way.

My only phone is a cell phone (no land line) and as long as I can make and receive calls and the occasional text, I am a happy guy. don't understand the allure of these fancy smancy phones, I have a computer on my desk, I do not need one in my pocket, Thank you!!!

It's a generational thing. The older generation sees no need for such things nor to do they want to learn about them. Too bad, because if used as a simple tool a smart phone can be a huge asset.

As stated earlier the latest and greatest phone is a status symbol for some especially the young. It's viewed as a toy. For fun.

Those a little older see and use them for what they were meant to be. A tool.

I have an Iphone. I use it as a tool and a little fun. I researched smart phones for two months before I bought. I resisted the Iphone cause everyone had one. But for me it was the easiest to learn and use.

I was working 40 miles from my shop and needed a small piece of sheet metal. Not having any idea where the nearest hardware store was I used an app on my phone to tell me. The app showed my location and the location of a hardware store two blocks over. Took less than a minute.

Electronics intimidate some and that's understandable. But those that take the time to learn benefit from it greatly.

What were you doing before you bought a computer? You certainly wouldn't be here!:p

I have an Iphone 4. Not 4S, just a 4. I love the thing & it has served me well. When I was in the hospital it made staying in touch with my folks & friends infinitely easier. being able to email & talk to them made the situation bearable. Also, playing games on it made the long hours go by a little quicker. I will never be without a smartphone. Having said that, I have no interest in getting a newer one or even putting the latest software on my current one. The one I have is plenty good enough for me & can every now & then still amaze me.

It's the sheep mentality. Along with an abnormal need to fit in and be excepted by the heard.

I don't get apoplectic about standing in line. It ain't easy, as my knees, hip joints and feet are shot and I walk with a cane; but I can often find ways to amuse myself. I wear a short full white beard. If I'm at the end of a slow "express" line and someone comes up behind me, I like to turn and say, "I hate to tell you this, but when I got in line I was clean-shaven." It's started some nice conversations.

I have an old flip phone which goes with me like my gun when I leave my apartment. I don't log onto the Internet on it, play games, text, watch movies, etc. It's a phone. For emergencies. People in my age group, mid-70's and up, normally understand that. If younger ones pester me to get a smart phone I just smile and say, "Oh, my, no, I'm not nearly that important." By the time they figure it out I'm gone. ;)

I'm not at all opposed to electronics or intimidated by them. I just don't need that kind, and can't afford it. And I'm no longer that busy.

I see it as a computer in my pocket and an occasional (and only) phone.Very handy.
I've even got a pair of 80 yr olds using iPads and iPhones ( I was really tired of being the it guy ;-) )

I got an iPad for myself and really enjoyed it. So I got an iPhone for myself and really enjoyed that, too. Being a considerate guy, I decided to get something nice for the wife, too.

So, I got her a new iRon! Somehow, she does not seem to enjoy it all that much... Go figger!

Man, I sure hope she doesn't read that!:p That iRon could be used against you.
