Who likes Berettas?

I have a 92FS. I got it only as an example of a DA/SA for my pistol class. While they are super reliable, they are not the best choice for self defense. Having two different trigger pulls is not the best for consistency. If it is going to be carried, it must have the hammer down. This means the first pull will be about 12lbs and subsequent pulls about half that. This makes learning the trigger more difficult. Can it be shot well? Absolutely, I know a few guys that do it. It's just not the best, especially for new shooters for self defense.

Now, if you want to talk about shotguns, then I like Beretta very much. I believe the 303 is one of the best semi-autos ever made. And, who doesn't like this:

I have owned a 92FS but sold it. Too big for a 9mm but it sure did shoot good and never jammed, not once. I currently own an 84FS that I love but again big for a 380. Cost too much to sell, they are hard to get and I would take a bath selling it. Also have a 687 Silver Pigeon 12ga. and a 687EELL Diamond Grade combo 20/28. Had a 303 I wish I never sold...bought it right and it was the softest shotgun. it was a 12ga and wifey shot it easy.

The only one I own right now, an Italian 92FS Inox...but Ihave owned many others.

Good guns

Carried one for several years - not necessarily my favorite, but they are reliable and I'm very comfortable carrying one nowadays if I want.

My meager bunch of Berettas is down in the safe, waiting for warmer weather. It consists of 1-92F, 2-92Gs, and 2-92SB compacts. The fun thing about the 92F are the goodies I've acquired to go with it - over the years, I've picked up a 98F slide and barrel in 9x21mm, and a 98F barrel and spring for 7.65x21mm, aka .30 Luger, Never meant to acquire all these goodies, but since they all can use the same magazines, it gives me options. (I can rationalize anything.........):D

I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

I pick up my 92FS in two weeks or so. I'm really excited about getting this gun. It's going to be a good range gun. It's going to sit in the safe right beside my M&P 9. My first three handguns were Smith and Wesson and I'm starting to branch out into other manufacturers.

I like them but I really don't miss my 92f duty gun after trading it in for my M&P.

I did get to shoot the 70 last week at the range. An elderly gentleman was admiring my 19 and I let him shoot it. Then he gave me a little history behind his model 70 and let me try it. Nicest shooting 22 auto I've ever fired.

Had a few 92's in different configs, FS, Vertec, Inox, and several clones. Down to one Beretta these days, a 92A1. More dependable than a bad meal at McDonalds. Thinking another Inox may be in my future if the right one comes along for the right price. I simply have too many Beretta magazines for just one pistol.

I do.

Here are a couple recent ones - a plain ol' 92FS and a .380 70s:

I've had these a little while - 1934s from WWII and the 60s:

I had a neat little 70 in .32 ACP but forum pal Erich traded me out of it.

I trace my fascination back to my childhood exposure to this:

Anyone else a fan?

That WWII 1934 looks slightly familiar. Just can't place it... ;)

I've also read that 007 preferred a Beretta:

I like them too even if I dont own one yet. A friend of mine bought one after watching the first two Lethal Weapon movies. He bought the same kind like what Det. Riggs (Mel Gibson) carried.I got to fire it on one occasion and loved the darn thing.

I had a beat up old Model 84 that was okay...traded it in on a brand new 6" Model 29-3 in 1987. The dealer didn't look too close at the Beretta...he just grabbed it off the counter top and put it under the counter, saying "Sold!" Had he looked closely, he would have seen that it had been VERY used. I definitely got the better part of that deal.

I have had a 92FS for about 5 years and take it to the range occasionally. I have invested in a .40 S&W slide and barrel off a 96 model as well as a .22 Beretta conversion kit for it. This way I have a 3 caliber gun with one frame.

I also picked up a Cougar 8000, 9mm. I enjoy it but it hasn't been out of the safe in a while.

Aloha,

Many Guys complain about the 90 series grip size being too big.

Problem is that it's in their mind and they can't adapt & overcome.

I know several women who have Beretta 92s and 96s. My Wife being one.

When I introduced them to Berettas, they knew going in that the grips were

on the large side for their hands.

They liked the way the Berettas shot and handled.

They said that they liked the guns and They will adjust to the gun.

They also do Not have a problem with the DA first shot.

I do not have a problem with DA/SA semi autos.

Just a matter of Practice, Practice and MORE Practice in getting to shoot the

first shot DA.

Women are funny creatures. Show them a nice Beretta and they go Nuts about it.

My Wife has several limited edition Berettas that other women have offered to buy at first sight.

Here's a couple.

Mine is the Brigadeer with jeweled barrel.
