Which ammo has everyone had success with? So far I have had no issues with any range ammo, but am looking for Home Defense. I am a newbie with limited finances to test out different brands so all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Federal HST 147 grain out of any barrel length 9mm I use for serious business. That is my top choice. Really any 124gr or 147gr premium JHP from any of the major manufacturers that is LE proven. Bill

speer gold dots. I've shot a lot of the 115g and 124g with zero malfunctions out m&p9 fs and shield9. My local police carry gold gots also, but they're 40cal. If its +p or not doesn't really make a difference to me. Practice and shot placement. Welcome to the forum.

Use what the FBI uses in 9mm: Winchester RA9B (FBI contract product number Q4392).

For home defense, consider what you could be shooting through if you miss. LE tends to use a heavier round due to the potential of having to shoot through things like windshields, doors, etc. If you live in an apartment you may want to stick with a 115gr load like the Hornady Critical Defense for 9mm. Shoot what you're comfortable with, but think out the scenarios.
