It has a bulged barrel!

So, I won an auction on gunbroker and upon arrival I was not happy with but was willing to look past some of the obvious lies in the sellers ad about the condition of the gun that did not show up in the pictures. But, I was not willing to look past the bulged barrel so I returned it.

It's funny he told me he sold it to someone he knows for a few hundred more than I won the auction for. Slick talking salesman type, he is. Well, now it's back up on gunbroker with the same lies in the ad and no mention of the bulge in the barrel. I don't get it. This guy has good feedback. What can I do?

post a link to the CLOSED auction that you won so we can see it.

Your warning is no good without telling us which gun not to bid on.

Where is the bulge? I'm not seeing it in the photos.

"Did you notice the bulged barrel?

Are you intentionally attempting to trick the buyer?

Stand up like a REAL man and tell the truth?

The word is out.

Thank You
John"

Could he have rebarreled it?
I can see why you bid its a nice looking gun

It was not easy to notice and I couldn't tell from the pictures. At first I didn't notice it until I cleaned it. It was dirty when it arrived. While cleaning the inside of the barrel I noticed some gunk built up in an area about an inch before the end of the barrel. Once it started to clean up I noticed it was real shiny and odd looking there and then realized it was bulged. I've looked at those pictures since to see if I could notice it and cannot.

But, I also couldn't tell from looking at the gun from the side no matter how close. I could only tell, after realizing it was indeed bulged, from looking almost parallel to the barrel. If that makes sense. It's the first time I've ever seen a bulged barrel in person, though.

Sometimes a bulge is obvious but not always. Studying light reflection from different angles and running your fingers along the barrel will sometimes find a bulge that otherwise isn't apparent. In your case, it sounds like you found a ring first, a major clue something wasn't right.

It's a shame because it's not a bad-looking gun for a shooter and even with the ring/bulge, might still shoot nicely. The seller should be honest and disclose this, of course.

Notice the last paragraph. How nice!

I looked at the posted photos and the only thing I noticed was some bluing loss about 1/4" from the muzzle. I can understand how anyone with less than perfect and experienced eyes could have missed that.

Another reason I will only buy if a 3 - 5 day inspection time is offered.
