Possible 7.62 Shortage

QUICK!!! HURRY!!! In addition to the 22 LR, buy all the 7.62 ammo ammo you can find, even if you don't need it!!!!!

I have a feeling there is going to be a shortage!!!

Spread the unfounded rumor so everyone gets this information too before it is too late!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

There are 30,000 Russian troops on the ground in Crimea and news organizations are being censored. Putin told the US to back off. This is a real crises and the last time there was such a confrontation it had a name, The Cuban Missile Crises. Its getting deep and we have no idea how this will end.

I'm watching this like everyone else. My money is on the US banning the import, not Russia banning the export. The good folks here in the US will create their own shortage in good time just like they did with the last one even if nothing materializes from either gov't. They won't be able to blame it on the DHS this time either because I'm pretty sure they don't buy Tula or Wolf or any ammo from the eastern bloc.

Personally I think it would be a good thing if we started relying on our own companies to manufacture our ammo and components and quit buying ammo from places like Mexico and the eastern bloc.

I've purposely stayed away from buying any firearms in Euro calibers because the ammo for many of these firearms is usually made outside the US.

Eventually ammo imports will be banned anyway by this adm or the next one so you might as well learn to reload or get cozy with paying a $1 a round for ammo.

The days of cheap ammo are over.

Hell, if the US manufacturers can create a "shortage" why can't Uncle Putty?

I read an interview today with the head of Wolf, and he denied any shortage of 7.62 ammo now or in the near future, essentially debunking the current rumor.

As far as anyone believing that moron Yeager and his idiotic proclamations, know your source. Yeager is a well known grandstanding braggart and buffoon, and a legend in his own mind. I wouldn't trust him for directions across the street.

Sounds like more internet BS to me . I just looked at several distributors websites and they had plenty of it at regular prices .
The sky is falling !!!

Well you need to start thinking how this will work itself out. There are reports of up to 30,000 Russian troops that have moved into Crimea. A vote to leave and join Russia is going to happen in the Crimea. The EU and the US are talking sancions. A lot of the ammuniton in American stores come from Russia or are manufacured by Russian companies. To say the possibility that that ammo will continue to flow without interruption is simply silly. A prudent gun owner would secure what ammo they can given the present situation which is only going to get worse before it gets better.

Remember 7.62 x 39 or 7.62x54 are not the only calibers that would be impacted by any sanctions. There are the popular calibers in 9mm and 223. What do you think would happen if all the ammo made by Russian companies were no longer available. If sanctions are imposed against Russian Ammunition manufactures then its 2013 ammo shortage all over again. Something each one of us must take into account in our decision making process. I hope we don't see anything that would impede the flow of ammo but one must prepared just in case.

Lady T,
I'll agee with you. Shortages may or may not happen. Rumor is most likely bunk, but best to buy sufficient reserves and be prepared just in case. In the event a shortage does happen you won't be crying later on.

Fact 1) Russia is bout to go to war.

Are they going to continue shipping ammo overseas, or are they going to gear up production for their own use?

Fact 2) U.S. politicians are already calling for trade sanctions against Russia.

If you ever had a hankering for a Cuban cigar, well, you know what trade sanctions mean.

It is available now. What is available next week is certainly in question if you ask me.

I really hope it doesn't as I've just bought my first Mosin and have yet to shoot it. What I don't need is another caliber pushing $1 a round or more.

Just remember that that caliber doesn't just come from Russia .
It seems that all those ex Soviet bloc countries export those calibers .

True but their stockpiles are just a fraction of Russia's even if taken together.

According to the Military Arms Channel this is just misinformation. He doesn't have a stake in the ammo industry, and he's got a reputable channel on YouTube.

In that post he says the companies are producing it at the rate they always have but nowhere is it mentioned that we have gone from 80 million gun owners to over 100 million gun owners. So unless we shed 20 million gun owners we will never get back to normal as the ammo makers are not expanding to meet that new demand.

What a crock.

The shop where I work orders Spam cans of the stuff on a weekly basis and there is no indication of any price increases or availability.

The WM I went to today, had many boxes of that and 223--bulk boxes and all. One bolk box--I forget how many rounds? possibly 250--for $35--they had several of those. I also saw the top and another shels full of various makes of 9mmand 45. At least 30 boxes of Winchester 45--several of Winchester 40, lots of Federal stuff as well. I went ahead and bought 2 boxes Fed 9mm for the hell of it. I skipped the 45.

Anyway, the new guy in charge of the ammo counter seems be "on the level" and said fewer daily faces at his counter for about the last 10 days...................................................
