.357 pricing=crazy money?

I was going to say if you think S & W prices are high, check Colt snakes !! My N Frames are not worth anything close to my Snakes.

You've got that right, Dog. Pains me I didn't buy a Python when they were in production and the prices was still within reason.

I'm happy I sold my only Python purchase 20 years ago. The five no lock M629s I purchased late in 2012 and early in 2013 have appreciated 20%.

No if I can just sell my 15 foot fishing boat :(.

I just looked on a local website and there is a model 19 for $700, a model 586 for $600 and another 19 for $725. Saw a 66 and a 65 for $600 also. Come on down to TX and have a look. Course you'll have to ship'm back to a FFL but it'd be a fun trip.

I got lucky and found a 19-3 for $325 about couple years back that is the result of someone trying to re-blue it and now looks purple-ish but locks up tight, greatest trigger around and goes boom everytime!

Good luck bigride I hope you find one for price you can't pass up.

Wish I could come on down for some shopping. I would like to find a 65 snub but I could live with a 4".

Not too awful long ago, I got my 19-2 for $350 and my 586 for $400. I guess the prices are good if you are selling.

Okeydoke, went back and looked at the .357 today.

It's a model 27 no-dash/undashed/dashless in blue, 6 & 1/2" (eyeball measured, maybe 6" ?)barrel.

It's looks about like new except for some light freckling of rust on one side of the cylinder. I would have loved to take a little Flitz to it to see how it would look.

The owner thinks the frame might have been reblued, I'm not so sure of that.

They're asking $675.00 at Ace Music & Pawn Shop in Elkin NC. I have no connection to them, visited them for the first time last Friday.

...

Is it a 4 screw, or 5 screw? I don't know enough to tell you which it should be if it's a M27 no-dash, but I do know enough to say:

GO BACK AND BUY IT NOW!

Maybe you could get them down to $600 for the lack of box and the condition, but I would probably happily pay the asking if it's in good shape.

Here's a link to some more information:

We expect to see photos of your new gun shortly...;)

I congratulate you on your restraint, and also generosity in sharing the info.

Of course, I just paid all the bills so I'm broke, and shipping and transfer would sort of take the icing off the cake, so to speak. But if it were local I would surely be looking at it now! :)

ETA maybe bigride will check it out, sounds like a decent deal. ;)

Accompanied a friend to the show here today. He wanted a S&W but he is on a Taurus budget. Found a 586 with some cosmetic wear and non-factory grip but very good otherwise. He got it for $475.

Later on at another table I saw a used 2.5" 686 with medallion combat stocks tagged at $1,550!

Was that the Tanner show? I think I saw that one, not a bad deal at all. There were prices all over the board, like you noted. I sure do wish I had had more dollars to burn, that's for sure. :p

A bunch of revolvers that I was looking at (at this same show in March) were gone this time. New or used, it seems like the good ones don't last long at any reasonable price. High priced ones seem to hang around a bit longer.

Sure was. Did you see the Registered Magnum at the CGCA table? Wow!

What's all the fuss.....its only money, they're printing billions more every month

That whole table had a lotta "wow" on it! I especially liked the "pintos". I hadn't seen those in person before.

I'm hoping I don't hafta work the weekend of the big collectors show here in a couple weeks. There are usually a bunch of cool S&Ws at that one. :)

$800 seems pricey to me. I was at the gun shop last week. I live near Charlotte, NC and they had used model 28's selling for between $550-650, two model 19's were $525, and the brand new model 66 was $699. Also the J frame 357's tend to usually go for more than the K/L frame's.

The Ruger's you can find for a little less. I've seen almost new GP100 going for $500.

I seen a ruger model GF 32 service six that was never in a catalog sell for $750. I know of one with the "made in the 200th year of American liberty"
I think there asking $1,000 for it.
