Good training, too. Minimal recoil recovery time, so it's easy to "shoot faster than you can see". I.e., not getting the sights lined up well enough before the next round goes off.
Usually it takes multiple hits on a plate in rapid succession to push it over. Some won't go down at all. So you can either concentrate on one at very high speed or work on transitions.
Not good for the "clean freaks"!

There was a time when 3 bricks (of 22's) barely made it to lunch. Then we'd move to the big-boy guns.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for 22s, whether in a revolver, a semi-auto, or one of several rifles. I taught rifle marksmanship at Boy Scout camps for several years and I can't begin to calculate how many thousands of rounds I supervised being sent downrange.
I can only hope the current craziness will moderate to the point where shooting a 22 returns to being "affordable" and "accessible" recreation and training. Is there no longer such a thing as 'Market Saturation?" I could have made a lot more money investing in boxes and cases of 22s in 2008 than in gold!

I bought an extra brick or two just about every time I visited WallyWorld beginning in the fall of '08. My use of the ammo in my 63's, 617, and CZ 452's stayed constant, and, despite gifting bricks to my sons and grandsons, I still have some. The last .22LR ammo I bought was a box of CCI Stingers - and that was over two years ago. Ammo is dribbling in, but way too slow - and still at a price premium. I may start worrying soon!
If the regular rimfire wasn't bad enough, I recently had to buy my first firearm in nearly 1.5 years - a CZ 455FS in .22 WMR! Oddly, the last purchase - a year earlier - was a 351PD - another .22 WMR. Harder to find, cheaper Winnie ammo, <$10 a year or two ago, is available at LGS's for $20-$30/50 now - when they have it. I thought it would end... perhaps I should say 'I hoped it would end!'.

Looks like fun to me! Nothing more fun than taking the kids out to blaze away at stuff with .22s!

Now that I have a few bricks in reserve, I've started shooting my 22's again. I have stopped actively searching for 22's but if I stumble across some in a store and they are within reason I'll pick up a brick or so if they allow more than one.
Just last week I actually went into a Dicks Sorting Goods fore another product and I strolled into the Gun Dept. They actually had 6 pallets of the Winchester plastic ammo cans which hold 2000 rounds and I did buy one. From what I heard, they were gone the very next day.

Similar situation, except when I was actively competing, I'd haunt Wally World for case lots. A "brick of bricks" as it were. Good when a lot was good. Save it for accuracy use, etc. and if not so good, then designated for less critical uses.
But in the last two years the pile evaporated despite cutting back hugely. Only purchases have been a brick of Wolf match and three boxes of Federal Value Pack! Pitiful...

Diligence pays off! Yesterday I saw some CCI MaxiMags V+ 30gr on a shelf. I got a deal - <$40 OTD for four boxes. My new CZ .22 WMR rifle needs a choice in ammo! Same ammo at a local scalper/lgs - $30/box. Keep your eyes open. Still no local source for my favorite .22 LR ammo - the Federal 550 packs of 36gr HPs. When available, they were $15.57 @ WallyWorld. The last gunshow I attended - last fall - found them ranging from $60-$75/brick on the reseller's tables. Sad.

OLD! Well not really all that old. But long out of production.
Had to go look. Couldn't remember if they were Rogers or Safariland.
Safariland used to have lots of great revolver gear. Only a tiny fraction remains in production and nothing new in years. Quite the shame.
