Official: Shield WITHOUT Safety

I don't understand this hatred of safeties...Glocks have ruined a generation of shooters...

Has nothing to do with hatred, why spend your hard earned money on something your not 100% in love with? If i was to get one i would get it without a safety just because i would never use it, why have a feature you're not going to use. :D

>>The problem with a Shield with a safety is that I am left handed, and if it should become engaged...<<

But it won't become engaged unless you engage it. The Shield's safety is not easily flicked on like the safety on some 1911s.

The safety is useful in certain situations. For example, the safety can be engaged before holstering the gun and then disengaged after the gun is properly seated. If you think this is senseless then just remember that the cops who have a negligent discharge quite often do so while reholstering their gun (i.e. Glock).

You mean, like a Hand/Emergency Brake on an automatic transmission motor vehicle? Can't remember the last time I used mine, but every vehicle has one. :D

I guess I'm the lone crazy that wouldn't mind the Shield safety as an option on all the M&P's. I hate the safety lever they have and thing the Shield safety lever is nothing short of genius. Don't like it? You can hardly tell it's there. Like it? It's easy as heck to swipe your thumb down over it during a draw. I'm not sure how the lever would ever be a problem unless you are in the habit of carrying a Shield in the same pocket as a ball of string.

Well I bought my MP9C without one thinking the same as you

Had the APEX FSS installed now I wish I had bought the safety
model because the MP9C is almost exactly like my Ruger SR1911
I think I will have one installed but now it is going to cost me extra

Well with me I have NEVER and will never change a trigger on a defensive pistol, shotgun or rifle. And what does the APEX FSS bring the trigger pull to? 3lb or lower? Your guns your mods but my guns stay plain jane for me, well with the exception of night sights and I might be adding skateboard tape? But lowering the pull length and trigger weight is probably not the best of ideas for a defensive gun. Hope you don't take it the wrong way but just my opinion and that's exactly what is just an opinion [emoji2]

Hey, am I the only one seeing a little Picatinny Rail-type protrusion on the front of those no-safety models in the brochures?
On-topic: I've never had an issue with the safety on my 9, but I won't dismiss the concerns of those that don't like it. My training with 3rd Gen semis at work has always been safety on when parking the firearm in a gun locker or at home, safety off before holstering. I do the same with the Shield and haven't had problems.

No not really, a vehicles brakes may wear down to were you might need to apply the emergency brakes on a steep hill to keep it from rolling, A gun will just never fire on it's own unless you alter the guts.

That is blame that shouldn't be placed on the firearm but the operator. ;)

Then you wouldn't ever buy a 1911 for SD ?

I don't own a 1911. I'm a 9mm guy and from what I hear if you're going to buy a 1911 it better be in 45. Lol I don't shoot 45 because I can't afford to. Right now I'm too poor to have what people call "nice guns" all the guns I have right now serve a purpose one way or another. Don't have the leisure to pay for an expensive beauty and to dump more money on it to have it look better and shoot better. And if I had a nice 1911 it would be the last gun I'd use for self-defense, that's why I purchased a glock so if I had to use it for SD I won't be out a lot of money as I wait who knows how long to get it back from the courts.

Yep you know it all...

Anther unsubstantiated rumor by a low post member which is whipping everybody into a frenzy.

I think I will wait for an official announcement from S&W.
