Newbie ftf/double feed - did I break my M&P question?

The edges of my caps look like that. I hater to say it but I don't know what Id' look for as far as the extractor

[*]Rack the slide three times. Force it closed so the ejector will slip over the rim of the stuck case.

No wonder the newbie's getting confused. You're trying to slip the ejector over the case instead of the extractor when trying to clear a malf.

Damn confused newbs - who needs 'em anyway! ;)

I bought my first S&W in 1974. I had a lot of worries and did a bunch of foolish things back then.

I'm sure everyone on these boards went through it at one time or another. You can't imagine the frustration involved in pre-Internet days trying to get assistance on gun issues. It usually involved paying a going to a gunsmith, having him take it into the back room, clear the malfunction, and come back out front and say,"That'll be $10. Oh, and here's a new mag that'll stop that from happening in the future. Just in case, toss those snap caps".

I hope I learned a few things in the last 40 years.

We all have to start somewhere - usually at the beginning! (says Captain Obvious)

It's great having access to these kinds of boards to have questions answered! As far as this subject - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the gun performs as it should on the range and that this whole thing was strictly dues to the snap caps.

Good catch. I went back and fixed that.

Here is a little thread I made to help with parts identification: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/341115-m-p-parts-identification.html
#7 is the extractor.

Thanks for the link/info Rastoff!

I just got back from firing off 100 rounds at the range and not a single issue. Well other than my aim. I'm still hitting low from aim point but getting better!
