Back in 1974 I was a brand new patrolman. I bought a commercial Hi Power as my duty weapon. After a couple trips to the range I was not a happy camper. It shot minute of 5 gallon bucket at 25 yards. It would not feed anything that did not have a profile like ball ammo either.
The first gun show I traded it even for a new 4 Inch Model 28 Highway Patrolman. I considered this to be a very good trade. The 28 was, and still is a tack driver. I traded the 28 to an old friend around 1975 or 76 who still has it.
I think it was a good trade that is even in my book. I say that because traded a nickel 27-2 6 inch in near mint condition for a mint Browning HP and both of us walked away happy which is the Art of a good deal. Of course at the time I had two Model 27-2 revolvers with 6 inch barrel.

Did you get gun oil on your wife's fur coat??? As much as I like the looks and reputation of a hi-power, they just don't feel good in my hand. I would have made that trade myself. Your new Smith is a looker! Enjoy it! Bob
Gun oil on my wife's mink would result in a punishment beyond belief The model 57 was/is dry.
Nice background for a pistol picture though---you think??
