New offering from Federal in 9mm

I think its funny when people argue over the advantages and disadvantages of Federal Champion, American Eagle, Speer Lawman, Blazer Brass and Estate, when there is a good chance its all loaded on the same machines with the same projectiles, same powder, same primer, and just different headstamp dies.

I have never been to a range that mandated the type of case that I used, I would be picking up my brass any way. One range did say no APIT!! Be Safe,

No doubt the ammo is going to be just CCI Blazer as CCI is the only company making aluminum cased ammo.

Picked up a box a little while ago, put two clips through it, very impressed. As a background i have a s&w sd9ve that ive had many jamming issues with, except for the mke and tulammo, which i dont like steel casings. the fed aluminums give a much lighter feel to the gun and for me rusulted in less recoil as well as an almost spot on aim for the next round. going to buy every box i can find. 110% recomended

^^^^^^^ exactly... At least with steel, you can use a magnet. :D

Stopped in at WW and they had about 15 boxes of the Fed aluminum. Still not sure if my range allows it. I shoot at 2, and I know the one allows steel but not aluminum. The other one doesn't allow steel in the bullets, but I don't think they say anything about cases. I have too much 9mm already. Would like to see they same thing in 45 ACP at $15.99 or so.

$14.97 for aluminum 180gr .40 and same price for aluminum 230gr .45.

I've purchased the 100 round value packs of Federal Champion brass in 180gr 40 at $25.97 back in June and 230gr .45 at $28.97 within the last week, got the four boxes on the shelf.

The Federal aluminum is cheaper than the Champion brass in 9mm, but the brass .40 and .45 is cheaper than the aluminum around here.

Watch which store you buy brass from, there can be a $5 - $10 difference in Walmarts.

I shot a box through my 9mm and a box through a friends S&W1911 .45 No problems.

$9.96/box for 9mm
$14.96/box for 40 or 45

I wonder if this is just CCI Blazer since Federal Champion is just repackaged Blazer Brass.

It would seem practical to repackage it under a different brand name since both companies are related through the same parent company. But I just want to mention that the brass casings in my many boxes of Federal Champion have different markings on them than my CCI Blazer Brass rounds, all of which were purchased last year.

My closest indoor range charges extra if you use aluminum cases. Either to pay for the folks who separate it or to make up for the lost revenue when selling it as mixed to others I do not know. They do sell used brass there and they do sell ammo though I don't know if they reload themselves to sell directly.
They do allow customers to pick up brass provided you are not interfering with anyone else. I suppose they get enough brass that the few who pick up reduces the time they have to spend picking up and separating etc to sell. I suppose they could change their policy if too make people start picking it up but on the flip side is imagine that would mean more customers through the door. I do not know if they have anyone tracking the numbers to do what make the most $ or if they are ad hoc policies that seem to work and they don't analyze the details of that portion of their business.
I reload so I try to use brass and pick up what I can. Though I also use steel and aluminum at times especially if I am shooting outdoors in a trash area where spent cases that hit the ground seem to disappear.
I also have brass catchers that I use with rifles and handguns though some work better than others depending on the combination of firearm and catcher.

In other words, the range staff would rather hang out indoors & BS than do a little work. I'd find a different range and tell them why I was leaving.

My local range uses the lame excuse that steel cased ammo causes fires but I'm sure the above also has a lot to do with it, much more than they will admit.

Has anyone shot this through a Shield 9mm?
I saw it at my local Walmart today. They had about 20 boxes of it. The price is great, but I'm a little concerned how it will function in my shield.

I bought 250 rounds today. We'll see how it shoots. If it functions well I'm going back and get the rest! :)

Shot 2 boxes....no problems except all Walmart's in my area are sold out. Wanted to get more after using it at the range.

I just bought a box of Federal aluminum from walmart today, 40S&W 14.97 a box. This was the first time I have seen Federal aluminum at Walmart , if all goes well I will buy a bunch more.

i saw some at my local walmart this weekend...it was only a dollar less than the brass federal beside it...

I bought (2) boxes yesterday in 9mm, on my way to the range--$9.97/ea. Considerably cheaper than brass--about $4.00/box. Shot all 100rds through my G19 and--mostly--my 469. Not one single hiccup and very good accuracy. I'll definitely buy more for range duty.

You know, I've heard a lot about ranges not allowing steel or aluminum cased ammo due to having to separate them from brass before selling.
If I was paying to use the range, I would go somewhere else or if unable, I would complain mightily.
I'm not going there and spending my money to finance their side business of reselling the brass. It's MY brass anyways! They should be paying me a percentage for it.
If nothing else, just quit being lazy and get out there and sort your FREE bounty.
Rant over.....

Picked up 2 boxes today at Wally..Shot a box this evening from a Ruger Sr9c with no issues at all..I like the price for sure..
