As a Shield owner, I think I'm going to sell my M&P .22 so I can get the M&P .22 compact. I have the gun, 3 magazines and a Blackhawk SERPA holster. Gun is in good shape, but has had 2000 or so rounds shot through it. I'm thinking $300-$350, which will be pretty close to what it'll take to get the compact. Is this a pipe dream?

I'm researching now because it's at S&W for repair. one of the roll pins in the slide has worked it's way out. The first time it happened, they told me to take a punch and hammer it back in. They also said if it did it again to send it in for replacement. Since it happened again, off it went (Very happy with CS, btw).

I've never sold a firearm before so I'm not sure what I'm doing. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Not sure what part of the country you're in, but here in southern Maine, the LGS has had 11 brand new full sized 22's all Summer long priced at $399.00 and one in the used case for a few months, with two mags, for $350.

With the Compact 22 being the "new hotness", a lot of folks are thinking like you, wanting to flip their FS for the Compact, the prices of used FS guns are definitely going to slide a bit.

Probably bounce back up though, in a few years, as the supply of FS guns dwindles and they keep making more and more Compacts.

I would humbly suggest you hold on to your FS. In my opinion, the grip feel of the Shield 9 feels a lot closer to the FS 22 than the new Compact. Not 100% sure that the Compact will even fit in a Shield holster. Might want to check first, if cross training is your aim.

Good luck

Actually, while I think it would be okay to use to train with, for my Shield, that's not my main goal. The grip on my FS .22 is a little big for my wife and 13yo daughter. I am actually looking for something that's a little more comfortable for my wife to shoot because I like it when she joins me, and I think she's smoking hot when she's got a gun in her hand (that's not pointed at me).

As I mentioned in another thread, this Compact fits my wife's hand perfectly, even down to safety and mag release placement.

Also, definitely plus 1 on the hot chick confidently holding a firearm.

I just sold my FS M&P22 for $325 - 3 mags. Will have a Compact in the very near future.

I used to see the fs go for $369 on sale at Cabelas and Vances. Told a small LGS i was waiting on a sale again and they quoted me $359 so I bought one then.
