God Bless the fallen officer. And his family and coworkers. My dept buried one of ours last week. There are no words I know of that heal only time may help.

Prayers for Officer Winebrenner's family and friends.

I don't understand why if they know for sure he did it why they took this guy alive. I guess LE has more scruples then I have. He would have been meat on the slab if I knew no one was watching and I knew positively he did it. Then again you have to have a lot of trust in those around you. Glad they got him and no one else was hurt.

I don't live in Akron, but I work for the University of Akron Police Department. My daughter is a member of the city of Akron police explorers group we have gotten to know some officers quite well. Apparently the suspect/future death row inmate attended the same fundraiser earlier in the evening that the officer did.

I grew up in Shaker Heights. I was just in Akron last week. We went to visit a reserve base in Youngstown and flew into Akron.

This is always tough to hear. Prayers lifted up for his family and co-workers.

In keeping with the line of this thread, and the ever increasing number of cop killings, I just read a news article from Virginia that stated the U S attorney general has taken the death penalty "off the table" for the four thugs/gang members who were arrested for the murder of a Va. law officer.

How he has the audacity to do something like this escapes me..oh, wait...THAT AG.

Sadly, I wasn't surprised at hearing that. I was unaware that this was a federal case.
