I've been considering the 351PD 22 Magnum, for quite a while.

One of the things holding me back (besides availability) is the front sight. My eyes prefer the green HiViz or the XS night sight, over the stock red color.

*** Can I simply change out the red 'Lite-Pipe' for green or can I replace the entire sight?

a) HiViz SW1001-G
OR
b) XS Std Dot RV-001N-4

Note: I have considered the 351C, which comes with a Standard XS sight, but my first choice is the 351PD, with the ability to take single action shots at vermin on my 2.5 acres.

I prefer green myself . I would contact Hivis themselves as they helped me with height questions before , and they would be able to direct you to what you need if they are interchangeable .

I emailed HiViz to get specific info on replacing the sight.
Hope to hear from them this week.

Thanks!

Just change out the tube. Takes a minute. I'm sure there is a video on youtube that will show you how.

*** Update on 351PD front site swap ***

Just received an email from 'Trevor' at Hiviz sights.

Here's what he had to say: "If your 351 has a 2" barrel and came with our factory sight on it, then the SW1001 will not fit. It uses a special sight we make for S&W. You would have to call to order one direct. The item is SW1002L. You cannot change the fiber in this sight. You would have to change the whole sight."

While I knew that the HiViz sight used on this was resin overmolded, which precludes changing just the light tube, I'm curious as to what "doesn't fit". Is it narrower or lower than the standard SW1002?

Bueller? Bueller?

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Found a '1 STAR' review of the SW1001 G front site.
Here is what the person has to say:

"I have a J-frame 351PD and this sight will not fit. The gun comes with a Hiviz red tube. I wanted green.

The red sight is much longer and the gun has a much longer trench. The green one will slide into the slot but you'll have a huge gap behind it.
