Holster suggestion

I am in the market for a holster for my shield and I am honestly confused where to start due to how I dress. I like my cloths very fitted or tailored. That said, something along the waist line (but inside the pants) my be very noticeable, no?

I also wear fitted/tailored clothing and conceal carry a Shield. I dress rather dapper and you'd never think I was carrying let along into guns by looking at me. You don't have to alter your dress to carry a subcompact so it's all about finding the right holster.

I tried various IWB holsters but I found those to be uncomfortable unless you wore pants two sizes too big, which, ya know, ain't dapper. Also, I really couldn't get used to IWB so I found OWB to be much more comfortable - specifically a OWB leather pancake style holster which keeps the gun closer to your body for optimal concealment. I carry at 3 o'clock, but that's personal preference. The Shield is a small gun so you can definitely CC with a OWB holster. I wear button downs, tucked and untucked, with or without a jacket and conceal just fine.

After trying (and subsequently selling on eBay) what felt like dozens of holsters, I found what I consider the ultimate premium leather holster maker ever - Wright Leather Works. I ordered their Predator pancake holster in Coffee and I love it. It's comfortable, compact, and made of very fine grain leather. It's a custom handmade piece of fine hide.

Another word of advice is the right gun belt makes a difference. You'll need an actual gun belt to CC comfortably. I find the thicker leather gun belts are far superior to the thinner gun belts with Kydex inserts. Just get the Wright leather belt too while you're at it - it blows away anything you can get on Amazon for the same price.

The only downside is their turnaround time is 12+ weeks at this point. I know because I just ordered another Predator for my M&P40 since the one for my Shield was so well made. Believe me when I say it would be worth the wait.

I found this comment interesting. Can I assume that if your button down is tucked, you have a jacket?

Does the jacket or untucked button down have to be over sized to cover what I would think would be an exposed holster?

I carry my Shield IWB and have never thought OWB would be a good conceal option but I'm open to the possibility. Today, if I'm wearing a tucked shirt w/o a jacket, my only carry option is my Ruger LCR-x in an ankle biter.

You might try a Remora IWB tuckable holster. They seem to work just fine.

So yeah, if I wear a tucked-in shirt, I'll wear a jacket to conceal of course. Lots of times I wear an un-tucked fitted button down and can still conceal with the holster/belt combo I use.

Only time I'll tuck my shirt is with a suit so I can still conceal OWB with the jacket. Luckily, I live in an open carry state so it's no big deal if I flash someone although I really don't like to and avoid open carry, printing, or flashing to begin with.

I honestly think it's the OWB pancake style holster I have that makes my Shield concealable. I tried other OWB holsters and they were just too bulky. Also tried IWB but couldn't find it any more concealable and way less comfortable. I agree though - Usually, I wouldn't think OWB is concealable but the holster and a good gun belt makes a world of difference.

Concealed carry isn't supposed to be comfortable but the holster/belt combo from I have from Wright Leather Works makes it comfy and concealable for me. Fits snug and tight to my body as designed.

Also, I'm addicted to the smell of the leather they use. Ugh, it smells so good!

sounds like get back for all the **** we old and fat guys put up with....
