Does anyone own or tried shooting this new product? If so, how do you like the pistol's performance? I am interested in buying one of this but I need more info about this firearm. I read the firearm's descriptions published by Smith Wesson and also watched reviews posted in YouTube. However, I would like to hear from owners as well. Visited several gun ranges but they do not have one available for rent just test it.

I have the M&P CORE. A good gun. I only bought it so I could mount a RMR red dot on it. I have two barrels for it 9mm and 40. The new ported ones I seen in two LGS's one the trigger was heavy and the other the trigger was broken. That is all I can say. I did not like the slide the metal was thin on the ports made it look cheap.

m and p ported perf center

I own product code 10097 which is a perf center optic ready (like a core) but ported 4 inch barrel. It shoots like a house on fire. I can shoot 5 rounds in 3/4 of a second and keep them on target. It odes so well I have been trting to get the 5 inch barreled version. A friend of mine has the 5 inch and he is just crazy about it. Between the ported barrel, optic ready with co witnessing iron sights, the perf center better trigger, its a winner for Smitha and Wesson!!! Get either one and you will love it.

Thank you haris1 for your insight. I am so excited right now and can't wait to get the 10098 - 5 " 9mm Performance Center. I am also thinking of adding the Leupold Deltapoint RDS to it.

I've got the five inch 9mm Performance Center with ported barrel with a Delta Point added. My advice.......Don't even think about it, GO GET ONE ASAP! Super shooter. Trigger is awesome and it shoots faster than I can. Can get six shots per second on target pretty consistently. They got this right. Good luck in your pursuit!

Thank you so much for your advice. I am in the process of locating and purchasing this product. Just curious, which Delta Point RDS did you add on it? 3.5 or 7.5 MOA.

I'll agree with those saying go for it. I've got the 4.25" 9mm and the 5" .40. Great triggers on both. Right now only one has an optic (currently on the 4.25", but was on the 5"). My wife has the 3.5 MOA Delta Point on her CORE, the dot's too small for me so I went with the 6 MOA Trijicon.

I own the Ported 9mm with 5" barrel, I have a burris fastfire 3 mounted on it. The trigger is just as good if not better than my other Performance center 9mm with 5" in barrel which has abt 5000 rds down it now. I use it for steel challenge and it definitely stays on level better than my unported 9L. It really behaves well, I did have to play with both 147 gr and 124 gr to get a decent shooting load, but I had to do the same with my unported 9L and luckily they like the same diet of 147gr slugs on top a modest dose of AA#7. They also like 124s on top a full house load of HS-6. I put a 3.5 MOA dot on mine but that is what I shoot in rimfire and have no problem with the precision dot, some guys like the larger dot, but I prefer and pick up the smaller dot fast and sure.

You guys all suck...for making me wish I had bought a CORE instead of the 5" Pro. :P

That is great! You seem very satisfied and happy with your ported 5" 9mm. I am surprised to know that you have mounted the Burris Fastfire 3 on it yet this red dot was not one of the red dots Smith & Wesson design for the CORE or the ported Performance Center firearm. Just curious so, how did you go about mounting the Burris Fastfire? Thanks.

Brnie, plate number 5 and the supplied screws fit perfectly on the fastfire 3. No problems mounting at all. I have the fastfire 3 on other pistols and it has stood up well. Some guys find it is important for the sights to co witness, with the fastfire 3 you can just see enough of the front sight to use the irons if you really needed to but I don't have that requirement even though I can do it with the Burris. the only issue I had was the mixed results with 115gr bullets, No issues with 124's and 147's, mine gets a steady diet of 147gr extreme's.

good luck

I have a 5" ported, my first polymer gun. Bought it because it feels **a little**like a 1911 in my hand. The trigger is good, the sights (I just have the irons) are good. It is very reliable. Pretty snappy at 25 oz. despite the porting, which I consider "cool" but not very effective in 9mm. IMO, if one must have a plastic gun, this is a very good choice.

Thank you so much guidedfishing for your insight regarding the Burris Fastfire 3. I am eyeing and did some research the 7.5 MOA Leupold Delta Point RDS. I like the Delta Point but, it seems that production was halted by the company to push the sale of the Deltapoint 2 or Deltapoint Pro. Dealers I contacted were all out of stock of this item and it looks like the manufacturer resumed production and the next shipment to distributors will be in late April 2015. I may have to wait until April for the Deltapoint or consider the Burris Fast Fire2/3. Thanks again guidedfishing!

Brnie, several posts on Smith-talk about red dots for the CORE. I had a Burris FF3 from another gun and like it a lot. Does not co-witness well on my CORE (just very top of sight as another poster said), so I moved it off to a muzzleloader. The Leuopold Delta Point 2 or Pro do not fully co witness either.

Co-witnessing was important to me, so I put on a Trijicon RMR 06 on my Pro CORE and I like it well. You can co-witness to just below the white dots on the fixed sights. As said in another post, being able to co-witness the sights also does help as an indexing reference to acquire the red dot faster from some different positions also.

The RMR 06 has a 3.25 MOA dot. If you want to shoot much longer range shots (50 yds. +) I recommend no larger than this size dot. Any larger and it obscures too much of the target. I also get some fringing/flaring of the LED with my eyesight so at longer distances it obscures more of the target than you would calculate by the MOA.

Good luck.

Personal recommendation: Wait for Leupold to get the DP1 back into production. It's bulletproof (pun intended) I've had mine for over a year and it hasn't moved zero since I installed it. I set the zero by lining up the dot (triangle actually) with the sights so it perfectly co-witnesses. I've shot over 50K rounds and I changed the battery a few months ago (not because it was going bad, I had the sight off for some maintenance and replaced it because it was off). I really don't see the reasoning behind the DP2 or Pro, having a "on/off" switch, being able to adjust the zero or change the battery with the sight on the gun have never been an issue. I'm on the lookout on Ebay for used ones to have spares, or I'll buy a new one when it gets re-issued for my other pistols so I don't have to swap the sight from one to the other.

Thank you so much Bkreutz. Iron sight and RDS co-witnessing is also very important to me. Of all the RDS that I've researched, Delta Point 1 is my number one choice. I took your personal recommendation seriously so I went ahead and place an order for the 7.5 MOA Delta (Cross Slot Mounts) through www.swfa.com; their price tag is $289.00. Although they accepted my order online, the item is on "back order" status. Look forward to receiving this item soon. Love your firearm set up; look awesome!

I have the 4.25" and the more i shoot it the more i like it.

I do still prefer the apex over the performance center trigger though.

I put a dual illumination RMR on mine and am happy with my decision.

Hello Guys,
Finally, I got my new M&P 9mm Performance Center 5" Ported Barrel. My first range time experience with this pistol is awesome and overwhelming. This gun is so fun to shoot and so far it is functioning very well. Thank you guys for all your insights, encouragements and recommendations, it helped me made my decision easier. Needless to say, I am very happy about this purchase. I can't wait to install the red dot; hopefully it will arrive very soon. Next, I will be looking for a holster. Any recommendations?
