What powder(s) are you still looking for?

The usual...

I'll take anything but Bullseye and Unique are what I really want.

I'll be glad to see AA #5. I won't turn up my nose at 2400, Universal. SR 7625 or 4756. Win 231 would be good, too.

I think I've been seeing less powder lately than I did during the worst part of the shortage. Or is this the worst part of the shortage. Or is it yet to come. I'm stocked up but not nearly as much as I would like to be.

Oh, if I get some magnum primers I could expand into some other powders.

Trail boss. I recently picked up a 66 no dash and trail boss loads work really well and all the trigger happy women in my life are shooting it all up.

I also found it makes an excellent safe reduced load powder for my rifles so I wish I had picked up more when I found it locally. Saw a bunch two months ago and poof it's gone. Haven't seen it since. Or any other powder locally for that matter.

I also want to nominate Novalty for the good dude of the year award. About half the powder under my bench (About 12 lbs!) is due to his keeping the in stock powder thread alive. I found it very helpful.

Thanks buddy!

Thanks ageingstudent! Glad to hear you got some powder off of the postings.

Was hoping this post would let me know what is still in high demand, so don't post unneeded powder updates. Rifle powders appear to be readily available. Right now I am expecting big postings from Wideners, Midsouth Shooters, and Grafs. These vendors have not had the W231, HP-38, H110 and other popular powders that some other vendors have posted over the last couple weeks.

I Think Supplies Are Easing

I just got my first pound of Universal in years. The Australians must have gotten the drier section of the plant fixed. I. hope the end of the longshoremen's strike will unleash a torrent of Aussie powder. My LGS, a small shop seems to be getting more, but popular pistol powders still clear out quickly. The speculators and hoarders are still a factor. Supply and demand at work, distorted by fear, same as it's always been. Too bad that prices remain stubbornly high.

Alliant Steel would be nice

I haven't seen any Alliant Steel for couple years now.

The Clays family of powders is back. I picked up 8lb jugs of Clays and Universal Clays within the last couple of weeks.

AA-9, which I have come to really like for .357 and .44 loads. In pretty good shape otherwise. My buddy just got us 3 lbs each of 2400 and I just bought 6 lbs of 4227 from bullets.com (also 10k primers just to make the hazmat fee worth it). Plus they had CCI and Federal primers at a really good price if you bought 5k of the same kind.

A year ago, I was already stocked up on H110, Blue Dot, and Unique. I was wanting something faster burning to load some wadcutter target ammo, but there was none to be found. Well, in the last year, I've found 700X, Red Dot, and Bullseye.

Just as a side note, I recently tested all three of those powders against each other. All variables were kept the same except the powder, and all fired through a Colt Officer's Model Match. I haven't photographed the results yet, but the IMR 700X beat the other two for group size.

And as far as rifle powders, there's not much of a shortage around here.

In my local gun/pawn shop they had several pounds of HP-38 and AA#2.

I really would like to find some more American Select, I'm running low.

I'm set for a while with powders I "need", thanks in large part to the ongoing thread in this forum. However, I'd be interested to try Blue Dot and TrailBoss at some point.

One thing people should take into consideration is that it appears that powders are produced seasonally. So if they are hitting the shelves now you better try and get them, because it might be several months before another batch is made available. I could be wrong in this thinking, but I believe it is why we haven't seen some powders like: 2400, AA#2 or AA#5 or W231 in awhile. Clays situation was related to the plant fire. Hopefully I am wrong in my thinking, but better to be prepared.

2400 and Unique (haven't seen either in a year-plus), Accurate #9, BE86 (would love to try), HP38/W231, VV Tinstar (very promising for .45 Colt but have seen NONE). It seems that availability of rifle powders is getting better, though.

A couple pounds of VV N110 is something I'm looking for.

Accurate Arms #9 would be nice to have on hand too.

Clays is on my list of powder hopeful and I kind of thought that it would be quite a few months before I get a chance to get some. But as luck would have it I just returned from one of my LGS with 2 (14 oz) bottles. It's a start. So, my list of hard to find or impossible to get is HP-38 and clays in kegs sized containers for long term useage. Also AA#2 and AA#5 but I'm in fantastic shape powder wise so no hurry on any of these.

The only powder I've been looking for is Accurate 1680 for 7.62X39 and some Titegroup just to try in 9mm. As folks above mentioned, I was able to snag a lot of powder I needed thanks to this thread by Novalty. Thanked him before and now as well :D

The only powder I was running short on was AA5744 and only because I was in the process of testing if I was going to use that in the 45-70 in place of IMR4198 and SR4759. I had less than a pound but was able to find some about a month ago @Cabela's for an almost fair price. (only bought 2lbs)

Everything else I was and still am fine with my supply...
