586 Performance Center 3"

No the runs are small. However the 586 L-comp has been in continuous production for 15 years now. So that is quite a few small runs.

The first run in 2000 was only 200 revolvers. Mine is the last one from that first run and it still looks great

What kind of holster was this guy using, was it lined or unlined?

True stainless has no finish to wear off, but holster wear is largely a cause of what you are holstering it in.

If you want the stainless version just buy one of those version.

That's an awesome revolver I love it! What exactly is it? I understand only 200 made?
I even like the color it is now looks different but the design is really great!

Slightly OT, but what are your thoughts on the Spegel grips?
From your pictures, I take it your grips are the extended-boot grip?
You wouldn't have a picture showing the backstap and grip thickness by chance...
I called Craig Spegel a few weeks ago to get on his list for 2 sets of K and N frame ex-boot grips. 5 month wait.

Thanks!

I think Spegels are the best value in revolver grips bar none. They fit my hands like no other. I've been meaning to order a few more sets.

Grips are a very personal thing and no 2 people are exactly the same in what they like...... I like the looks of factory combats...... but they don't fit my hand.... they force my little finger down and away from my ring finger....

IMHO........

Spegel grips are well worth the wait....... I've been using them since the late 80s on all the revolvers I use/carry ..... Boot grips on 3 inchers or less and Extended boot grips on 4 & 6 inch guns!!!

Medium size hands here...... large hands may want to go directly to extended boot....

Personally, I would sacrifice the ported barrel in favor of the longer sight radius. But that's just me.

Well you can choose to believe :) or call me a liar. :(

I highly recommend the former. :D

If you search the forum, there are several other F-comps pictured with the same grips. Their owners also claim that the revolvers shipped from the factory with them.

MrTrolleyGuy's are more reddish than mine, but clearly the same grip

If you own a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson (3rd edition) you will notice that the F-comp on the back jacket is also wearing the same grips with a little darker color than mine

I can back up SAA. I have all the runs of the 66-4 F Comp. Even the 66-3 F Comp. Lew Horton ran several promotions where the first 50 customers to order received a set of wooden grips. These were all special grips put on by Lew Horton.

One of the Runs came with Badger GRips with a single Diamond Ivory Inlay on the right hand side. Most shipped with Uncle Mikes.

They also shipped with a smith & Wesson rosewood Combat.. Not the older style, but a rosewood combat Prob made by Aktamont.

Hope this helps.

I really like the Model 627 that they make. To me its the nicest looking 7 shooter 357 gun they make. I also wish the price was lower on it as well. Having had the pleasure of firing one once the balance was virtually perfect with it.

??? The 627 is an N Frame that holds 8 rounds. The 586 is an L Frame that holds 7 rounds. Might want to check you model number my friend.

Excellent choices! Welcome and get to the range and start shooting those bad boys! Post some pics and let us know what you think.

Have owned my 19-7 k-comp a few weeks now, dated 12-94. I think after looking at yours I've found the complimenting grips. It has the Uncle Mikes and shoots great but for dress those Spegels are perfect
