Sonds like this guy may get a kickback from the owner of USCCA. He sells CC Insurance. ;)

Interesting about wanting to dictate the type of holster... I'm guessing he wants a retention type?

Fortunately, most of the people who co-authored the Bill are savvy enough to not fall for this.

Well... It's unofficial, but it looks like it passed it's 1st (of 3) Votes:
Bill: HB 910 Disclaimer:This vote has not been certified by the House Journal Clerk. It is provided for informational purposes only. Once the vote is certified, it will be recorded in the journal according to Rule 5 of the House Rules and made available on this web site.

RV# 279Unofficial Totals: 96 Yeas, 35 Nays, 1 Present, not voting

on another forum, it has been stated that an amendment to reduce the inadvertent carry in a 30-06 business goes from a felony to a misdemeanor

Now it goes to the senate. Straight up or down vote. Doesn't pass it goes to conference and then back to both houses for another straight up or down vote.

If it passes in the senate and it is expected to pass then it's off to the governor,

lets hope

Hmm... The Senate CC Bill (SB17) needed 3 Readings and Votes before they sent it over to the House. Looking at transcripts of the day and seeing what's going on with other House Bills, it seems that HB910 also need 3 Readings and Votes before moving on.

Unless Texas is different from other legislatures, a third reading is normal and a prerequisite to being engrossed to be passed. Engrossment is the final, "official" version of the bill that will be sent to the Governor to be signed into law.

In MA (and probably other states) there is even a "Committee on Third Readings" in both houses that review the bill.

I always take a third reading as an encouraging sign. If you've ever followed a bill through it's journey in the legislature, you know that it's far more frequent and likely that a bill will die than be passed.

Im getting sick and tired of trey martinez--something or other and this on and off again thing.

Just found this.It was ninety-six for and thirty-five against--and along party lines too as usual. Anyway,This info comes from the Christian Science Monitor---as of about twenty minutes ago. I usually take everything from them with a grain of salt as they aremore than left-leaning these days.

The only other useful info I saw from that article--was they claim that Austin is starting to cave in to"""teapartiers""" demands.

Okay!!! HB910 passed its final vote today!!!

Now, the Question is:
What happens from here?
* SB17 and HB 910 are 'Companion' Bills (Duplicates).
* SB17 passed in the Senate last Month.
* HB910 just passed in the House today.

Since they're companion Bills, does SB17 need to be voted on in the House and does HB910 need to be voted on in the Senate?
... Or ...
Are they done, considered 'Engrossed', to be merged into one document to be signed by the Governor?

This is further than previous Open Carry Bills have gotten!!

Here's today's News Blurb about it:

HB 910 and SB17 are basically the same. House took the SB17 made it HB910 and added a couple of amendments and now it goes back to the Senate where it is expected to pass. I hope
