Getting up to speed with On Target. As previously mentioned in order to accurately measure a target that has been submitted a reference point is needed. If the target I created is used that becomes a no brainer because I know the dimensions of the rings and the software has an input for that. Other targets will need a way to indicate sizing somehow so I can grab it with the software.

My computer has trouble printing .jpg. Text comes out of the printer as a blank page; your target prints the top 1/3 before the page is ejected. I've got to get the machine to the repairman soon, and hopefully I'll have this fixed. I'll include a ruler with any later photos; would it help if I used a ruler calibrated in inches and tenths?
The target I put up I did with CorelDraw back when Rastoff threw down the gauntlet. I couldn't locate B27's near me so I threw together something that was similar to the inner rings on that target. I just repurposed it here. But also what I did was post it as a PDF file so it was a little smaller in size and would print reliably. So Cyrano, do you have Adobe reader installed?
Even if you draw a line somewhere on a target and tell me it's say 4 inches. I can then put a marker on either end with the software and tell it what that size is in real life. By doing that you can take a pic of a finished target from any distance and it will calculate that in when it figures the group.
Sounds like a good day at the range.

In any contest that involves something mechanical there is a very strong tendency for it to degenerate into a technology race. My fear is that before long we will see Tupperware Match race guns. Someone is going to start pushing the edge of the rules.

The good weather has finally worked it's way up here into Maine. Wish I could report that I was on a bender but sadly it was just work.
I just paid for my licensed copy of On-Target, I should get an email with my registration code fairly quickly so I can score April.
The MAY 2015 Contest:
Some online research led me to a description of a drill known as El Presidente. That seemed a bit much at this point but I saw a comment about a version referred to as Vice Presidente. And that's this months shoot.
3 targets each the same. Set them out with maybe a foot to 18 inches spacing between them. Face the targets at 7 yards. 2 shots each target left to right, then go back and repeat, 2 more shots in each target. End result 12 shots, 4 in each target.

We got 6" of snow here today!! Might be a few days before I can get to the range to shoot this one.
Snow I haven't seen for awhile now but I'm still lighting the wood stove on occasion. Probably start one tonight just before bedtime.
Working on scoring Aprils Targets. I might, not for sure, amend the competition and have each shooter call out a target as their submission, but we'll see. The idea is to shoot though and I am enjoying seeing all the different guns submissions.
