Chance to buy a Model 14-3

Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum so go easy on me.

I have a chance to buy a Model 14-3, S/N K876XXX. It's a 6" barrel, 3-screw, with smooth stocks. The blueing, chambers, and bore are in excellent condition. It has a grooved target trigger and target hammer. It's in the original box, with cleaning rod/mop, post card, and owner's manual (manual dated 3-1967). The price is $550 plus tax. (The seller's starting price was $599).

What do you guys think? Should I buy it?

I paid more than that for a really nice one without the box and papers, etc. I would not hesitate to buy at that price. And, the gun shoots better than I can hold it.

And, welcome to the forum - you will not find a better source of S&W info anywhere else.

Collects, the smooth stocks do have the S&W medallions and appear to be as old as the gun. Do you know whether S&W sold smooth stocks at one time and how unusual they might be? (I've never seen any myself.)

My advice, go buy that gun right now. You will NEVER see that kind of package deal at that price again. I haven't even seen a model 14 alone going for that amount. Usually up in the $700-$800 range from what I've seen, without the box and tools and whatnot. Don't let it get away

But I must ask, have you fondled a 19-2? I bought a 14-3 before getting my 19-2, and the 14-3 never sees daylight now.

I just purchased a nice14-3 for $550 without a box. You should get it while you can.

There are few things in the firearms world that are superior to a K-Frame 6" 38 spc. Accurate, balanced and beautiful! Still, I am probably a little more fond of the Combat Magnums so I own only two Model 14s. A -2 and a -4, both of them shoot better than I can.

Just shot my 14-2 6 inch yesterday. Is well used, but is amazingly accurate and has an outstanding trigger. Bought for $425 at a gun show a couple years ago, no accessories and Herrett stocks. Is definitely a keeper! Enjoy!

I picked up my 14-3 a few weeks ago for $375 no box or papers and shows honest holster ware but is all original with serial numbered matching stocks. It's a great shooter.

How can you go wrong with a Model 14 at $375? Provided they are mechanically sound, it is hard to beat them. Bob

I paid $620 for my 14-3 with no box or papers. It's one of the prizes of my small collection and a great shooter. Mine has the 8-3/8" barrel.
