Have you guys used the Shield with the Crimson Trace® Green Laserguard? I'm just curious how worthwhile it is for actual "in use emergency" application?

I'm not new to handguns but I am to laser and look forward to your input.

I think a laser would be most useful if you're not able to get a typical sight picture for some reason.

Green is easier to see in daylight. On a different note, dvor.com has CTC green laserguard demos/refurbs on sale for the next two days at $135 plus shipping. They tend to sell out quickly.

I have the LASERMAX with red laser and it is handy for quick target pick up, especially at night. It is bright enough to see on target at 20 feet in the sun light.
You can get them from amazon for around $85.

I am a big believer in lasers on carry guns. If you can carry the gun in the method you choose with a laser attached, I believe you would do well to do so. Someone above stated lasers are good if you cannot acquire a good sight picture with iron sights. I can think of a solid dozen reasons when a good iron sight picture would be impossible to obtain period.

Just the fact alone that a dot on an aggressors chest may eliminate the need for you to pull the trigger makes them a good investment in my mind.

I have one of those too I shot it at the range a couple times and I hurts the back of my trigger finger as I takes up some room in the trigger guard and I have fat fingers. It might be ok with a 9mm but the recoil on the 40 makes the it hit the back of my finger so it is sitting in the cabinet with a couple other lasers and red dots. I don't think the CT wraps around the front of the trigger guard does it? Don

It does. The main difference between the two, besides cost, is that the CTC is activated when you grip the gun.

I get a green laser whenever I can. The difference in visibility is night and day. That is to say, a green laser in the daytime is as visible as a red one is at night.
My full size guns have TLR-4G's. My carry guns currently have red CT laserguards but I'll upgrade to greens when they're available.

You could probably be just fine with the red, since tiny carry guns aren't meant to reach that far out, so you can see a red dot when it's within 10 yards just fine. I still think you'll see a green dot faster in all scenarios.

Wow folks, great information. I wanted to make sure a lazer isn't a gimmick or fad? I want something that makes me better able to make a good shot, God forbid you need too!

Thank you all for your excellent comments.

One other question please.

Is there an advantage in buying the Shield with the Crimson Trace factory installed. Or are you just as well off buying a lazer in the aftermarket?

I have the RED crimson trace lasergrip on my 9C & LOVE IT!!! I would take a RED laser over a green one any day!!! (my opinion)

Do you have any experience shooting with a green laser?

Or is this simply a "I prefer this because it's what I have even though I haven't tried anything else" claim.

Please, do elaborate on why you prefer a color your eyes and brain are less sensitive to and be slower to acquire your targets with.

There is no advantage either way, go with whatever is cheaper.

I have a green laser and I do like it better but I understand they eat batteries a lot faster then a red laser. I don't see that a problem in a SD gun as you are not going to have it on very long. Don

I have red lasers just because I have had them on many of my carry guns for many years before the green ones came out.

Personally I don't think it matters which color you get as most situations where a laser would come into play is in a dimly lit situation.

The red lasers on my snubbies are used in my training classes and they are extremely effective everywhere except the brightest sunlight.

I do not worry about the range of the laser. I hopefully would refrain from pulling the trigger in haste in any long range situation.

The one area lasers are often overlooked is the great training aid they provide.
Dry fire practice with a laser is one of the best methods of learning trigger control.

Yes of course I have shot both. Simply like the red better. That's all. Sheesh!!

Green lasers are much more expensive, and while you can see them better, at 20 yards the red is visible. I shot my revolver last week with the red CT grips s d fire the center out.

The Viridian Green laser is incredible…When you buy one you get a concealed carry holster that turns the Laser 'on' when you draw, and 'off' when you reholster…Very slick. You can SEE a green laser in bright daylight, where a red one would not be visible. Our eyes are far more sensitive to green light.

You may be just fine with a red laser. You will absolutely be better with a green laser.

I just think saying you prefer a red laser is like saying you prefer a dim flashlight (but still usable) to investigate a bump in the night to one that is brighter (but not excessively bright).

I don't understand preferring the red. I'm genuinely interested in why people say they do. If they can convince me to their logic, it would save me a lot of money.

At what distance is a green laser no longer visible and/or dependable? I have seen 20 yards mentioned, are they good beyond that?

I also thought when the Crimson Trace is on the Shield, the laser comes on once you grip the pistol. Is that right or do you have to have the special holster?
