The service i've been receiving from my credit card company is making me look elsewhere. I have been with them 15 years and it's time for a change. Who is the best? Who has the best points program? Thanks!

There are many "best" companies, depending on what you want. I have heard frequent analysis of cards by folks like Consumer Reports. You'll need to look for one of those reports. It is worse than a caliber discussion ;)

My local credit union was the answer for me.

They make all the decision here in my town and I can even pay the account there in person. They also handle LOCALLY any disputes, problems, questions, etc. ...... even called me a month or two ago about a potential fraud.

Much better service than a toll free number and chat with someone who barely speaks English.

True. Some people get ones that pay miles, I dont need miles. Others you get cabelas points + discount, I rarely shop there. I have chase sapphire preferred, annual fee $95 but great customer service. They have what I need and want, im simply.looking for points and a company to stand behind my purchases.

I believe ny interest rate may be 13% no idea, I never pay it. Im sure I can get it lowered but Ive never bothered since I dont need it.

Fidelity's Visa will put 2% into your investment account, with no annual fee. Since I run more than $30,000 thru my cc every year, that's $600+. I'd bend over to pick that up.

USAA Visa offer's up to $1.25 cash back, but it's a sliding scale. They're an excellent company, in general, and I carry one of their cards which I use for certain things.

SAM's Visa has a 5% cash back, but it's not automatic -- you have to pay a fee to be in the program (and be a SAM's member). I forget what the fee was, but I basically broke even on my first purchase, and have been getting 5% back on everything I buy at SAM's since, which is quit a bit for both home and business.

Now days, I make money on my credit cards. But it wasn't always that way. I took my wife and I 10+ years to lean not to carry a balance. Even though, from the start, we could of payed them off every month. Young and stupid. Thousands wasted on interest.

If you have the military background for USAA membership, they pretty much offer excellent deals and have been highly rated. They do Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. You can do points or cash back and believe me they offer interest rates lower than what they advertise. Just depends on what you want, need, and qualify for. The best cards are the ones that are paid off each month and let you earn cash back for doing it.

I still have a Bank Of America VISA which pays 3% on Gas, 2% on things like groceries, food, and 1% on everything else. I do not like BOA as they closed all the facilities in our city, but when my CC was hacked, they replaced it within 3 days, and when I went to Italy there was no extra transactions fees. I never carry over a balance, so I haven't paid any fee's ever and I can't even tell you what the interest rate might be.

Its impossible to say in your case. You have provided ZERO information about what you are looking for in a card, and what your credit situation/useage is.

I agree with the Pilgram. But my oldest brother flies a lot, so he has a mileage card. He said it is the equivalent of 5% back. I don't fly, so I go for cash back.

I've used all the majors. Discover has by far the best customer service and account monitoring tools. If you want to talk to someone you can do so without going through a myriad of button-pressing menus, and the times I have talked to someone they have all been intelligent English speaking Americans.

I particularly like the tools that I can set up with my desktop or mobile app. A text or e-mail message can be sent whenever the card is used or at any particular $ level or above I chose, card is used outside the country, by phone or online, cash advance, or if the card has exceeded a certain amount. All these things are user settings. You can chose which ones you want and set your own criteria. Also you can shut off your card and turn it back on.

Cash back is 1% for everything no limit. Each quarter there are different 5% cash back categories. One quarter will be gas purchases, the next will be restaurants, then home improvement stores. Right now through the end of the year it's 5% at department stores and Amazon.

There's also Discover "Deals". If you use the Discover portal to get to an online seller there's 5-10% off and sometimes more from places like Best Buy, Walmart, Ace Hardware, Kmart, Home Depot, JC Penny, Sears, Walgreens, and tons more.

I use two other cards that fill the gap on cash discounts. Like my Amex Blue card I get 3% on groceries and 2% on gas. But Discover is the main card I use.

Discover is a great card, I've been using one for several years now, I opted for the cash back offer. AMX is still the card I go to when traveling or making large purchases; I generally end up with enough "bonus" points by the holiday season to get gift cards for all the S.I.L.'s.

Another vote for Discover, I charge EVERYTHING on it and really rake in the cash back bonus awards. At the end of the year you get a statement showing each category and what you spent on it. For medical deduction on the income tax it can't be beat.

Both Visa and Mastercard are OK, and the difference in service is a function of the issuing bank, not necessarily whether it is Visa or Mastercard, or something else. My wife and I have one of each and use both. Both have the 1% cash back, or the equivalent in gift cards, and occasionally special deals. Have been using both for a lot of years, always pay them off via direct draft every month.

I don't want no stinking points!
And I don't want merchandise (junk).
I want money!
Don't trash me, cash me!
Look for a cash back card with no annual fee.
Interest rate not that important to me, I pay it off.

American Express through Costco. Only problems are not everyone takes it.

My wife and I have a rule , if you buy it on credit , you better have the money to pay it off when the bill comes. That being said , we pay for just about everything on the card. We earn points and use them. Air fare , for vacation , paid for by points. Our stay at the Hampton , paid for with points. We pay the card off every month and have never paid interest . We travel , we eat , and get a warm bed for free. Whats not to like.
