Now that I have my first 3" barrel revolver on the way (it gets here tomorrow
), I have a couple questions about the grips. What grip lengths do you guys prefer for revolvers with 3" barrels?...full-size or compact "boot" grips?
They seem to look a little odd with full-size grips, but I'm worried that if I want to shoot primarily magnum loads, the boot grips may not provide enough surface area for good control. On my previous revolvers I'm loved the feel of Hogue fingered grips, both in wood and rubber, but the photos I've seen just don't look quite right with that barrel length.
I'm curious to hear your opinions.
***Edited to add: I'm referring to the L-frame in general and the 686 Plus in specific***
