This gun leather was a birthday gift from a forum member (who is coincidentally, my son) and was handcrafted by another forum member, Dave Keith, to fit my 3rd model 44. This gun shipped to Wolf & Klar, Ft. Worth, TX, in April, 1930. It is fitted with original W&K mother of pearl steerhead grips with ruby(?) eyes. The leatherwork includes a cartridge case and is fitted with a Marti's (Nuevo Laredo) solid silver buckle & loop assembly. While the 44 was shipped 85+ years ago, the leather was shipped this Monday.

Lessee... Texas 'open carry' starts on Jan.1st??? That is 2 months, 9 days, 7 hours and 28 minutes--but who's counting... Thanks to my son and Dave.

Beautiful rig! Man, I'm glad to see people use bullet pouches instead of cartridge loops.I really like pouches with Speed Strips or Speed Loaders. Loops create verdigris leave trails of bullets at very awkward times! That Keith, sure has a way with leather and, is one heck of a nice guy to boot. Congrats on the gift! Nick

Very nice!

Keith44 sure did some fine work there. It was certainly worth the wait for a custom rig.

Please be sure to post some photos of the fancy silver, I would bet that it really sets this rig off with a bright polished nickel gun and sterling buckle.

Now we just need to have a BBQ :D

Happy Birthday to you :)

How about a picture of the belt buckle?

Please...

I have had this buckle for a few years. I always loved the smooth, elegant style of it but had it on a really ho-hum belt that I almost never wore. I thought Dave's belt would be an excellent home.

That's a beautiful rig. Dave does a fine job of bending hides.

I did the same thing with a buckle off a belt my Mom gave my Dad back in the middle 40s. He plumb wore the belt out.
I had Dave put it back to use.

Kinda looks familiar don't it?

I am patiently waiting till my name comes up on Dave's list to do a true western Lawman's rig for my model 28. This is not helping in the patience department. Great looking rigs and I looking forward to one day strapping one of these on with a Stetson white shirt and a tie and living the dream.

That's pretty darn nice Randy!

The only thing I'd consider is replacing the brass snaps and Chicago screws with nickel hardware.

Nice outfit for a BBQ gun. I don't know about routinely carrying it openly but at a BBQ, yep, that's the ticket. I open carried my 4" M686+ in a new, gorgeous holster last Saturday (sans fancy belt, sad to say) at a BBQ/poker game. Some guys didn't even notice! But I won't be doing that in public. :)

Yoda, beware taking a nice gun to a poker game. Ask safireman where his pre-28 came from.

I saw lots of old lawmen packin' iron in rigs like that when I was a kid.

When Dave showed some of his wares here on the forum I was plumb intrigued.
When he sent me a couple of samples to try out I was a gone beaver.
I posted a thread on what he had sent me.

I don't know how many of his holsters I have now, but it would make a full steer if we was to glue them back together.
