Inherited a Smith and Wesson 39-2...

The guns you have to compare with your 39-2 are all striker fired. As reliable as they are, they can never compete with its trigger pull.
You have a well made gun from a different time, that I'd be happy to buy from you.
Bonus, I live in Metro Atlanta.

Hey I got a private message from you but when I tried to reply it said your PM inbox is full. message me when you have a moment or use the email I sent you. thanks

The only down side to them is you can't get a threaded barrel for 'em... I bought two - a 39-2 nickel and blue, and a 3914 that I switched out the hammer on - several years back to use as duty guns and have had zero problems with either. Both of them will shoot better then I can, heh, heh. I like them because the grip/barrel angle is very close to that of JMB's pride and joy, the 1911.
If I was going to change the finish on them I would send them out to Birdsong for his Black-T finish. He treats everything including springs and screws and doesn't change the dimensions more the +- 0.0005". Good stuff...

I would keep it, leave it alone, shoot the heck out of it and smile all day long....39-2's rarely need any parts anyway.

Just sold a real nice one, it was 95% with no box, got $450.00 for it.
Miss it already, but that's the way it goes.
Sacrificed it to buy something else.
Excellent shooters

I'd go so far as to say it is one of the most accurate and best fits in my hand out of all the guns I've owned.

Are you selling it to put food on the table?
If not.....
Keep it
Shoot it
Enjoy it [emoji106]

Well I'm glad I shot it when I did, because I came home this afternoon to find thieves had broken into my apartment and stole several items... one of them being this heirloom. Words cannot express my feelings at the moment but the optimism in me is glad they didn't take the one I was carrying today, and trust me when I say if I find out who it was, they will pay for what they did. If anyone tries to approach you with a gun matching the serial # from my 39-2, please contact the authorities immediately. Thank you again.

That's horrible news. I'm truly sorry for you and your losses. I just saw a news story the other day where many of the guns seized from criminals in NYC can be traced back to your area in Georgia.

Bought mine iirc in 1966 or 67. Serial # 80xx, no prefix. Still my favorite single stack 9mm.

Round up all New Yorkers in GA and deport them back to the big rotten apple.
Problem solved.;)
