Smith coming out with a PC Ported Shield

I just read that S&W is coming out with a ported Shield!! Both the barrel and slide is ported. Also new fiber optic sights! I've had my Shield since they first came out. Already passed the 2000 round mark and not one problem with the gun. Why would porting the Shield make any big difference....except charging more $$$ for it???

I guess they like to provide customers with a variety of options, but porting is a really bad idea IMO on any defense handgun.

I have an irrational desire to buy one of these things, but I doubt very seriously if the trigger will be as good as my 40's with a full Apex kit in it. Not sure about the sights either. I like my Trijicon HDs an awful lot. Still I'm tempted to get one in 9mm and see just how much faster it is to get follow-up shots off. And it's sorta cool looking so....

are you sure the barrel is going to be ported ? or is just the slide for weight reduction like on the 1911 PC guns

Both Barrel and Slide are ported.
Listed in the spec's on S&W website.

Take one look at the promo pic and you'll know both slide AND barrel are ported.
