Some law enforcement officials, including the sheriff of the county where I reside, are urging lawfully authorized folks to carry, particularly in view of the threat posed by radicals who want to kill people wantonly.

My EDC (Every Day Carry) components have not varied for several years. My kit is as follows:

1. S&W Model 642, stoked with +P hollow points.

2. An extra 6 rounds of ammo, carried in a reload strip in a drop pouch.

3. A .22LR North American Arms mini-revolver as backup

4. A cell phone.

5. A good-size folding knife.

6. A GI pocket knife containing tools - an awl, bottle opener, can opener and screwdriver.

7. A miniature tactical flashlight that's really bright and which can flash SOS signals.

8. A pen to write down license numbers, etc.

What items do you carry routinely?

Improved Model 56 (2" M15)in an O'Rourke pancake, 2 Jetloaders and a speed strip, SAK, SureFire 6P, small cell phone and a few bandaids.

Spare glasses and ammo in the trunk.

With the exception of the NAA .22 backup, and the fact that my J-frame is a 640, my carry setup is essentially the same as John's. The pocketknife is a Victorinox Super Tinker and the larger folder is either a Spyderco Endura (most days) or a SOG Flash II. The pen is a Fisher Space Pen that will write on wet or oily surfaces. I'm looking for a better flashlight, but have other priorities right now.

Been thinking about a backup, but never have made the move.

Typically...

Small first aid kit (band-aids, alcohol wipes, sterile gauze)
4Sevens Quark Tactical 123^2
Keychain with Fenix PD20 flashlight and Leatherman Style PS multitool
"Rite in the Rain" pocket notebook
Zebra F701 pen
A pair of polarized sunglasses
Smart(ish)phone
Keys
Wallet
Cash

I sometimes have my backpack handy, which has a Leatherman Fuse and another first aid kit (Dark Angel Medical pocket kit).

When not prohibited, I also typically have...

A S&W 642-1 (Spegel boot grips, Speer SB-GDHP) in a Side Guard Holsters Quick Clip IWB holster
1 Safariland Comp I speedloader with Speer SB-GDHP in a Jox speedloader pouch
1 Tuff Products 6-round QuickStrip with 4 rounds of Speer SB-GDHP in a Side Guard Holsters pocket pouch
1 of my Spyderco Delica 4 FFG pocket knives

And a partridge in a pear tree. ;)

I like choices

I have a "rotation."

The 1911 was my only carry gun for several years. In warmer climates it was a bit impractical.

The 22-4 was found to carry incredibly well and comfortably in a pancake holster. The 649 is the light duty carry.

The 442 is the ankle gun. A 642 has been added for pocket carry.

A Springfield RO Compact nine will be added as a more compact, lighter weight option here soon.

It's essentially an $800 Shield, but I like great shooters and I'm worth it.

The usual homes:

The waistband gun is always backed up by an Airweight in the pocket or on the ankle.

One or more of these accompany me as well

The AFCK is most often carried. I keep the other Benchmades as I just really like them. The Bowen belt knife comes along into "gun free zones." It might be better than nothing. It's gotten a person or two out of a jam (I've used it to fix split hoses and rubber lines on people's vehicles). The Beretta Ultralight comes along for swims. It is extremely light and very corrosion resistant. The CQC7 has made an expensive utility knife for me.

Other than that it's a few Keychain tools. One has a bottle opener and a couple screw drivers.

Out of everything this little guy gets the most use:

Other than that it's my CCW permission slip and a bank card.

I'm tempted to get a plastic fantastic...and am leaning towards H&K, but I don't know if I'm ready yet.

I keep it simple. A Model 649-3 loaded with standard factory .357.

But maybe these will come in handy some day!

Now let's see your purse.

It's all carried on my person. The only requirement for concealment is a shirt worn tail out. Gun goes in right Levi's pocket, using Barami Hip-grips. Cell phone in belt pouch, next to drop pouch for ammo. Backup NA mini-gun goes in left pocket, along with GI pocket knife. Larger knife clipped to that pocket. Pen in shirt pocket, next to 4-Sevens Preon flashlight.

Nobody knows by looking that I'm a walking survival store. :D

John

P.S. That little flashlight gets the most use - particularly for reading menus in dimly-lit restaurants!

My 442 or Model 38 until recently when I changed to the M&P .380, one extra mag, cell phone, keys & wallet. I have back & knee problems, walk w/a cane and cannot carry much more than that w/o causing problems for myself.
