These two desperadoes are my paternal Grandmother and Grandfather
at the beginning of their honeymoon approx. 1900.
They are at "Garden of the Gods" in Colo. Springs on their way
to California.
The mustache is real on my grampa.

Took me a minute to decide if that was the mule's left ear, or the muzzle of a rifle lying in Grandma's lap.

Cool pic and family history! That is just a couple miles from my house. The famous "Balanced Rock" is one of the most photographed spots in the Garden. You will generally see a tourist posing to hold up the giant rock before it falls down :) Sadly, they only rent horses now, not burros.

Bam-Bam, that's a good question. It looks, kinda, like there's the edge of a stirrup, just in front of Grandpa's mule's nose, and it's the right height for Grandma. But then again, the way her trunk looks twisted, it does appear her bottom is not pointed in the same direction her top is.

Hi all...thanks for the kind replies. I have been doing some
research and recently found out that the lady in the pic,
my grandma, also homesteaded 80 acres in Colorado,
BY HERSELF, when she was about 16 years old. From
reading about her trials and tribulations this was a major
accomplishment.
She was quite a lady and a great cook. My dad said when
she made biscuits he had to smash them down
so he could get them into his mouth!
Here is a pic of them on their 50th anniversary.

Every once in a while I will see a woman and think

"now there's a STUD"............in a completely respectful way.

That is what I see, and her husband looks like a real match.

Very Cool..........Thank You

I think it is great when a person proudly displays family pictures. They look like quite a pair. I can tell you are proud of them, and I'll bet they would be proud of you too.
Peace,
Gordon
