Went to a gun show Friday and yep, it happened again. A 19-3 followed me home......4" nickel. About 1980? #2K77XX... I'm no good at dating these.

Traded a Browning Buckmark in on it. The Browning was nice and clean with 3 magazines, and shot well, but it just didn't melt my butter. This one however.......oh yea!

Edit; A pic of the left side. ( I can't take pictures of nickel plated guns for sickum, either too bright or too dark)

Nice!! Now your going to really hurt all of us and tell us you got it for $550 out the door..... why do all of the gun shows I go to have over priced junk and yours have beauties like this? :)

THAT is a thing of beauty, congratulations! ;) Now, let's see a pic of the other side. :)

more like 1972

Good find! I have a FEW guns that I would not mind trading off. I ALWAYS upgrade when I do. So, there are really none that I regret getting rid of. Bob

Daisyman, That is a sweet looking 19. I think you came out on the better end of the trade. I love my model 19 and 66 revolvers there is something about that 4" K frame look that is just so sexy....Enjoy your new toy

Very nice! I have a twin to yours except for the flash chrome hammer and trigger, it was back to the mothership for repair. Looks a bit strange but I sorta got used to it.

Sorry for the slow replies guys, my computer went goofy this morning and I've been gone all the rest of the day.

Ken, no this wasn't a bargain gun. I've traded and bought from this gentleman before and he's always fair, a really nice guy, and carries GOOD stuff. It was tagged at $675 (a plenty, I know)and he allowed me $354 for my Browning and had tax on top of the difference. I had $250 in the Browning so I thought I'd trade. As was said, good Smiths just keep going up and that Buckmark was just a utilitarian pistol and would never be on anyones bucket list.

Besides that, it's shiny!! :D

You're weak like me, keep it up. Beautiful gun.

Thanks for all the nice comments. It really is a nice gun, just can't get good pictures of it. I will have some fun with it after we get our 2 to 12" snow out of the road that we're supposed to get Tuesday or ........? I push some snow for other folks with a 1993 John Deere compact tractor and blade, so a little more gun money is on the way! :D

My light just came on and I thought "why don't I google S&W serial no's?? DOH
Sure enough, Northeastshooters.com is moderated by Pilgrim and he listed the models, dash number meaning and serial numbers. So far so good.
NOW, to really show how little I know about these, I have a K22, (17-3) with a serial # 1K911XX, which is a K frame gun. Makes sense.
This one is a 19-3 with a serial # 2K77XX. Isn't this an N frame gun? My 29-2 is N 2507XX. Isn't that an N frame gun also? My 28-2 N3886XX, another N frame gun. Why on earth is the 19 a 2K instead of an N serial?

Daisyman did you go to the Des Moines show at the fairgrounds?

Yes, that's where I got it. That's also where I got my 29-2 in September! I gotta stay the heck outta there. My wallet gets thinner every time I go! :D

I will let you know where my driveway is. It sounds like a good day for some renwax and revolver waxing.

Irv. If you are satisfied with what you traded and away versus got (and I can think you got the much better end of the bargain), it's a great deal.
That is one fine looking 19!!!

Well, it might be because your model 19 is a K frame :). If you have your model 28 handy (another 6-shot .357), you can easily see the size difference.

Indirect sunlight, or diffuse indoor light (with non-reflective surfaces nearby) both work well for nickel gun photography.

Note to self....Put brain in gear before engaging in conversation.... Get ALL guns out and look at them together.

Thanks for getting me on the right track. I'll be all right.....I think?

P.S. We don't have sunlight here in the winter. It was sunny one day last week and people ran and hid. :D
