Hello, since I do not want to fire a NIB S&W 19-5 2 1/2, I have decided to try and find something used in the same style, but have found I would be paying even more than what I paid for my new revolver.
I know Ruger makes a decent product, but I have heard great things about Dan Wesson Revolvers. I have found under $500.00 for a 2 1/2 model.
Then there are some with 2 barrels in the $800.00 range, sounds like a lot of bang for the buck.
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

The Dan Wessons are a bit larger. Also they are a long stroke action and the trigger pulls feel very different.

Dan Wesson's do utilize a multi piece tensioned barrel system and this does allow them to have incredible accuracy. During the days of Metallic Silhouette DWs were highly sought after because of this.

Pricing sounds pretty good.

I have several DWs right now chambered in 22LR, 357 Supermag and 41 Magnum. I own multiple barrels for each.

There are plenty of used .38 specials out there. Pick one up as a shooter if you want to keep the 19 unfired

Take a soft piece of shag rug to the range to put the gun down on. Handle it carefully, shoot it and enjoy it.

I feel if I don't shoot my guns my kids will when I pass on. Shoot it.

I buy so many used, unfired handguns at my LGS it's good for me but sad for the previous owner.

My thought is I will enjoy my guns shooting them as I please. I rarely loose any money if I sell one.

and if there is anything left when I am done shooting, my kids are welcome to what's left. I'm sure my son will be quite happy.

Shoot it. When you die and the next person gets there hands on it, chances are they are gonna shoot it. So what's the point of you wasting a perfectly good gun? Just sayin...

I just bought an unfired 66-4 snub, and I'm keeping it un-fired as well...........

Until I get at least a few hours of free time!

I'm gonna give that 66 a work out of .38 and .357, both in 158 gr, then finish it off with some Speer Gold Dot 135gr short barrel loads, then......Clean. Lube. Carry Daily.

IMO, a 19-5, although a nice gun will never have the collector value that the earlier P&R models have. Shooting it will not hurt its value much if it's properly maintained.

P&R

I do agree with collector value to a degree, but I think the line will be drawn at the lock variant's. Although I have said the same thing on the model 41's and the cocking indicator's.

What do you want to use it for...... range, concealed carry, woods bumming..... LOL "fishing"????????

38s or .357????????

IMO buy another 19 (2 1/2 or 4") ........ a shooter...... and keep your NIB as a Safe Queen/ back up........
