The Model 15 snubbie

I just bought this snubbie yesterday. I have a question. The grips have the matching serial number for the gun but there is also stamped in large letters "KPC". Any ideas? Inspector stamp? Gun was manufactured circa 1968 according to S&W Catalog & Roy Jinks book.

I think...the "KPC" stands for K frame PC=Plain clothes.
If I'm incorrect someone will be along.

I love my 4" CM, but for a K-frame snubby I'd choose a Model 64. Stainless, RB and fixed sights makes more sense and looks better, IMO. I bet the 15 shoots better, tho.

I carry a 19-4 snub every day.... this revolver would be no more a challenge than it. If I am fortunate enough to find one it will wind up on my hip for sure. Love the gun. I can kick myself in the a&* , I passed on a Nickel 15-1 for 300.00 at the gun show 2 years ago and have regretted it every day since.

Everything seems wrong about the adjustable sighted, snub-nosed Model 15 with target trigger, ... but it works. This is a shooter grade I found several years ago and I love taking it to the range. It shoots more accurately than many of it's longer barreled cousins and just plain looks cool.

My Model 15 is a four-inch, but here's my snubbie 19-2.

I'm a fan of K-frame revolvers and intend no criticism. These big snub-nose guns are generally easy to shoot well because they are heavy. As a carry gun, they are quite bulky and that bulk is in the frame and cylinder, not the barrel. For daily carry, there is far less difference than many think between a 2" and a 4" K-frame.

Never understood the purpose for a 2", square butt revolver with target sights. Hideout? Need fixed sights and round butt. Holster wear? A 4" makes more sense. I have looted at 2" M15s at shows and agreed they are sorta cool, but for the life of me I couldn't think of a purpose it would fulfill.

Well, if Joe Friday didn't have a purpose for his, then I guess you have a good point. At any rate, I really like mine, but I don't carry it. It's just COOOOOL!

Like logic means something to a gun fan, right?

Perhaps you have never owned one. A 2" Model 15 shoots about as well as a 4", and is slightly less risky when carrying on a belt. Depending on pants, it IS possible
to pocket carry a 2" 15 with Rogers/Safariland grips, at least with the hammer bobbed. I, too, would prefer a round butt, but it does seem to work perfectly well with
the Rogers grips. In my hands, it shoots more accurately and much faster than a Model 10. I have EDC'd my 2" 15 for many years, with "FBI loads." That's the purpose
it fulfills for me.

Be it right or wrong, they just look cool! I searched for 1, a few years on & off. Never happened. Finally got this 10-5 in March. Factory R.B. stocks were pretty rough. Just added these Pachmayr Renegrades. Not looking for that elusive 15 snub any more! ( never say never) Bob
